I'm in the midst of a pamphlet re-writing assignment for a Jewish-Adventist independent ministry where I have to reproduce EGW quotes that are mentioned in those pamphlets. When reading the original text, I'm unable to decipher if, at the end of some of her quotes, the references used read as "Lb., pp. 123" or as "Ib., pp. 123." I also am unsure if the L/I is upper case or lower case. And I'm completely unfamiliar with what this shorthand is referring to. Please set me straight on all of this.

I'd prefer not to have my email address propagated throughout the entire Adventist mailing list system. That's why I asked here.

I did try looking online, as well as at the EGW estates, for a reference that I could compare to, and couldn't find any. I can only copy/paste my own text, as I've typed it so far, to the best of my ability, to show you a vague example of what I'm talking about. I may or may not have it referenced correctly, and that's what I'm getting at - I need to know how to correctly reference the quote. So, here's the example quote: “The most important part of the daily ministration was the service performed in behalf of individuals. The repentant sinner brought his offering to the door of the Tabernacle, and placing his hand upon the victim's head, confessed his sins, thus in figure transferring them from himself to the innocent sacrifice. By his own hand, the animal was then slain, and the blood was carried by the priest into the holy place, and sprinkled before the veil, behind which was the ark containing the law that the sinner had transgressed. By this ceremony the sin was, through the blood, transferred in figure to the Sanctuary. In some cases the blood was not taken into the holy place, but the flesh was then to be eaten by the priest, as Moses directed the sons of Aaron, saying, 'God hath given it to you to bear the iniquity of the congregation.' Both ceremonies alike symbolized the transfer of the sin from the penitent to the Sanctuary. “Such was the world that went on day by day throughout the year. The sins of Israel being thus transferred to the sanctuary, the holy places were defiled, and a special work became necessary for the removal of the sins. God commanded that an atonement be made for each of the sacred apartments, as for the altar, to 'cleans it, and hallow it from the uncleanness of the children of Israel.'” --Id., pp. 352-355.
Oh, wow. Hey, I just realized that it's a "d" not a "b." I'd still like your input, but I'm going to also re-research this online and see if I can answer my own question. I'll let you know if I found the answer.

Update: the closest I've come up with is: "Ibid., p. 206 (Early Writings, p. 286)" as an example. But that's not quite right. I'm not sure what Ibid means, but that's not the type of reference used in the pamphlets.

I forget what Ibid.'s long name is, but doesn't it mean the same as the previous reference given?

You know, someday I'll learn to problem solve better and quicker. Um, and not be dyslexic. Ok, another update. I realized I could just compare the text of the reference to the text used in the rest of the pamphlets, to see what shapes were used in the original font for "I," "i," "L," and "l." I'd still like to know what "Id" stands for, but yeah, I think that's what it is, after comparing "text with text" Sorry for bothering everyone with this. *blushes, then runs and hides in a corner*

Ibidem: adverb: in the same place (used when citing a reference)
I hope that helps!
