From the Desk of Don C. Schneider. . . .
Feel free to share this information.
1. At the Pacific Union Conference Committee yesterday, Ricardo Graham, Union Secretary, was elected to follow Tom Mostert as president when Tom retires at the end of this year.
2. Columbia Union College trustees have invited Weymouth Spence to serve as president. Spence is currently Senior Vice President for Academic Administration at Atlantic Union College. He is considering the call.
3. At the Year End Meeting of the South Pacific Division, Barry Oliver was selected to become Division president replacing Laurie Evans who is retiring. Oliver has been the Division Secretary.
4. The high point of the NAD Year End Meeting is the Sabbath. It is always a time to remind ourselves of our real mission. Sabbath morning reminded us that our kids are really important, and they can be leaders in witnessing too. Ron Clouzet preached about the God of the impossible. He challenged us all to ask God for big things during the 2009 Year of Pastoral Evangelism. The NAD had been baptizing between 35,000 to 40,000 people each year. He suggested that we pray for 100,000. This is not too much for God. It would only be a number equal to 10% of our membership. Think of it for your family, or your church, or your conference or union, and I am praying for it for our entire division. How can God bless us if our goal is to do "about what we have been doing"? Let's think big, pray big, and ask God for big miracles.
