He gave evidence of His deity to the apostles in the boat, at Lazarus' funeral, and what was said to Peter and Thomas. No, Jesus' deity doesn't have to be accepted on faith. There is enough evidence to support his claim. Don't forget, the demons in the herd of pigs acknowledged his divinity as well.
