My hope is that this ruling will send the message to parents everywhere: Parents (not teachers, police officers, parole officers, pastors nor other adults in authority) are the ones responsible for the education of their children.

I am not sure that we have the wole story here.........The kid lives with the mother, not the father..Why is should he be more responsible that the mother that she lives with?

That was asked and answered in the video clip.

A parent's a parent--no matter how involved. Hence, he is equally responsible as the mother.

What's more the kid is over 18 years old now. So what is the deal with that. The father should appeal that ruling. It will most likely be overturned. Problem with a six month sentence is that he will lose his job and no child support will be paid during that time. How is that supposed to help. Some judges are idiots.

If the dad's in jail, who is going to support the daughter and her little illegitimate child? I'm assuming that because she is living with her father, not the baby's father. Oh, yes, that's right, the neighbors near and far will be supporting her in the WIC program and welfare and medicaid, etc.

of course, if the daughter was home studying instead of out doing you-know-what, she would have passed the GED

The problem with that thought is that in this case .... the person is not a 'child' but an 18 year old adult.
