Woo's her (as a male) then drops her.

makes me want to rethink the whole death penalty....

I can understand pretending to be someone you are not. I can even understand pretending to woo someone....

...But to tell that same person that the world would be better off without them....

That is just cruel.

I have been following this for a while, the whole things was done with the intent of destroying her self image. The victim lived across the street from the person who strategized this.

When the parents contacted the person who did it, she acted like it was nothing more than a small item.

This is really about cyber-bulling those who either can not fight back over lack of age-experience or other reasons,

And that cyber-bullying can be done not only on myspace, but in emails, in pm's, and on forums. I would bet that the suicide referred to in this thread is not the only suicide that came about due to cyber-bullying. It's just that nobody knows...or cares....what their words can do to someone else.

Several years ago on another SDA forum not this one a young man threatened suicide for stuff that happened on the forum. He dropped from sight. Never heard from again.

Did he commit suicide or not? I cannot be certain. He was supposed to be in Eastern Europe somewhere. Someone said he heard he jumped off a bridge but that could not be verified.

Anyone who would take their own life based an bullying from a computer is really in need of counciling in the first place. It would not take much for something else to set them off on a self destructive path.

In this case I expect the mother will have the charges dropped or she will be aquitted.

1. The child admits to give that last cyber bully that the would be better off with her in it. He says his mom had no idea he sent it or to what extent the cyber bullying went on.
2. As to the fake name that would be hard to prove that the mom knew about that. Lawyer says she did not.

I know my kids are on Myspace and I have no knowledge of what goes on there. My wife does though.

Amen! Words are things. They can hurt deeply even to the point of wanting to end your own life. the things we say to, and about, our brothers and sisters are real. And, to many ... especially the young or insecure ... the people on the computer become real. To many becomes the extent of their social circle and to be treated as this young girl was is absolutely horrid!
