If you ever wondered how alternative medicine came to be, this book will explain it to you.

Dr. Noyes gained an interest in these practises in the 1980s, when they began to compete with modern medicine. His includes information he found both from medical journals and from popular practitioners of alternative treatments. He also includes what EGW wrote about various healing methods 100 years ago.

I've read other material on the subject but found this book to be the most informative so far. Dr. Noyes has spoken at seminars and Camp Meetings.

What does he say about Acupuncture? I tried it but I didn't appreciate coming home and still finding needles in my head.
I already have 8 screws in my head ... so having needles was just over the top.

Basically for each therapy he gives its history, its philosophy and its modalities.

I've known Ed Noyes for over 30 years. His research didn't just come from *reading* about the various alternative methodologies, but also from talking with practitioners and from their patients. He's a cool guy. Smart and has a passion for spreading the Word via the Health message to people in the US, as well as in Europe. Interestingly, he's been banned from Russia.

Yes, I had a good conversation with him about experiences that I had encountered.

I got the feeling that he was fair in his inquiries. After all, he is into natural healing methods himself, promoting God's 8 natural remedies.

Seriously ... they left needles in your head? dreadful!

About 20 years ago I had serious neck injury due to an auto accident. They said it would require an operation and there would be a 60/40 success rate. but, my neck would never have full range.

I went to an acupuncturiest (sp) many times but when all of the treatments were completed I had no more pain and it has lasted. Thank God.

I have not done a lot of independent research on acupuncture, but it seems to work on animals as well as people. Years ago I heard that acupuncture was most successful on people susceptible to hypnotism, whether that is true or just scaremongering I do not know.

I heard yesterday - unrelated to this thread - that there are now machines that map the junctions of the electrical fields in the body, or whatever is used to determine the insertion points of the needles, so it is not necessary to remember where all the meridians are ( I think that is the term).

So reading what Dr Noyes has to say will be interesting.

EGW had a lot to say about therapies that involved "electrical currents" and the manipulating of them. It is amazing how "up" she was on the subject.
