The error lies in the fact that the pope does not claim to be a prophet of God in the Biblical sense or, generally, to receive visions or dreams from God. He also does not claim-- as some falsely believe he does-- that none of his pronouncements or teachings can be questioned. Ellen White says ... "The papal church will never relinquish her claim to infallibility. All that she has done in her persecution of those who reject her dogmas, she holds to be right; and would she not repeat the same acts, should the opportunity be presented? Let the restraints now imposed by secular governments be removed, and Rome be re-instated in her former power, and there would speedily be a revival of her tyranny and persecution." GC88 564

GC88 564 I believe the quote. Do you see the quote as meaning something different from what I said? If so, explain what that is. My statement had to do with the infallibility of the pope because that is what Aldona was referring to. The Ellen White quote is about the infallibility of the Church, which is a different issue. See bottom of post. This from a Catholic catechism, Christ Among Us, p. 145: "I nfallibility is expressed by the pope when teaching 'ex-cathedra,' that is, under these conditions: when he teaches as the visible head of the Church, to all Catholics, on a matter of religion or morality, intending to use his full authority and give an unchangeable decision. Infallibility refers only to the pope's power or charism of correctly teaching Christ's revelation to humankind. In personal belief or morality, in science, politics, etc., the pope can be wrong. He can sin, and make mistakes-- and many have-- in governing the Church." This from the wikipedia: "I n practice, popes seldom use their power of infallibility, but rely on the notion that the Church allows the office of the pope to be the ruling agent in deciding what will be accepted as formal beliefs in the church." Since the solemn declaration of Papal Infallibility by Vatican I on July 18, 1870, this power has been used only once ex cathedra: in 1950 when Pope Pius XII defined the Assumption of Mary as being an article of faith for Roman Catholics." Those quotes from the Catholic Catechism are dealing with the infallibility of the pope. On the other hand, the quote of Ellen White is dealing with the infallibility of the Catholic Church. The infallibility of the Church is "expressed by the belief of the people of the Church who are in union with the pope and bishops."

Didn't the Pope apologize for the mistakes of the church recently? Don't sound like 'infallibility' to me.

If those two religions are the only two that I could refer to I would have to say Catholicism because they do believe that Jesus is the son of God. However, that is pretty much where our common idealogies end.
