Welcome with open arms fellow believers who don’t see things the way you do.
And don’t jump all over them every time they do or say something you don’t agree with
– even when it seems that they are strong on opinions but weak in the faith department.
Remember, they have their own history to deal with. Treat them gently. Romans 14.1: The Message

Top 10 phone numbers to have in your cell

By Angelica Thornton and KATU Web Staff
Jul 18, 2008

You've probably programmed the numbers of all your friends and family into your cell phone but you may be forgetting about some very important contacts that could get you out of a pinch.

1. Your Credit Card Company
2. Your Car Insurance Company
3. Automobile Association or Road-side Assistance
4. Locksmith
5. Health Insurance Company
6. Your Doctor
7. Airline
8. Information - 411 or 1-800-GOOG-411
9. Coworker's Number
10. Your Home and Work Numbers

*I would also add the number of a pastor and lawyer, just in case.

In my cell phone I have my family members' names programmed in with "I C E" in front of their names. (In Case of Emergency)

I think police and emergency medical personnel understand what the letters I C E refer to. Since I live alone, it's one way of helping summon my family if I should be in an accident.

I just received this today from a good friend and it seems applicable to this thread.

*****

Never thought of this....... This lady has changed her habit of how she lists her names on her mobile phone after her handbag was stolen. Her handbag, which contained her cell phone, credit card, wallet... etc... was stolen. 20 minutes later when she called her hubby, from a pay phone telling him what had happened, hubby says "I received your text asking about our Pin number and I've replied a little while ago." When they rushed down to the bank, the bank staff told them all the money was already withdrawn. The thief had actually used the stolen cell phone to text "hubby" in the contact list and got hold of the pin number. Within 20 minutes he had withdrawn all the money from their bank account.

Moral of the lesson: Do not disclose the relationship between you and the people in your contact list.

Avoid using names like Home,Honey, Hubby, Sweetheart, Dad, Mom, etc..

And very importantly, when sensitive info is being asked through texts, CONFIRM by calling back.

Also, when you're being text by friends or family to meet them somewhere, be sure to call back to confirm that the message came from them. If you don't reach them, be very careful about going places to meet "family and friends" who text you.

PLEASE PASS THIS ON I never thought about THAT! As of right now, I no longer have "home" named on my cell phone .

Unless the thief took the money out at a bank...infront of a teller that would be difficult...unless the bank account was nearly empty...because generally speaking you can't take out more than around $500 a day out of the ATM on the bank card. Or am I missing something. I am not trying to negate the story just learn from it that is all.

Personally, I rarely carry a handbag.

Going from car to store, I use the cell holder clipped onto my waist band which is usually concealed by a shirt over it. My debit card in my pocket as are my keys. I will carry a shopping list in my hand just for having something in my hands.

My handbag is usually in the car trunk well out of sight.

Guess I heard too many stories growing up about muggers ripping pensioners' bags with their SS money inside. That never really hit home until years later. A lot of older women and my mother-in-law-carry their life in their bags rather than a safe box at home.

My sister once had her bag swiped as she was going into the grocery store when we lived in Miami...and she was a young mother with children at home!

Point is, regardless of the section of town or your age, ladies need to be extra watchful.

A coworker of mine put her purse in the trunk of her car while working at a store. She came out to get materials and found her trunk had been forced open and her purse gone. Some thiefs watch parking lots just to see who puts what, where.

I do it at home and live out in the country. Unless the wanna-be con has an uplink from an eye in the sky, he wouldn't know and more to the point, know there is nothing there to take.

Just the hazzle of going to get a new driver's license etc. ugh!

I usually have cash only by Friday evening only for children's LAMB offering.
