Gail my bible for 1 Kings 8:65 reads:So Solomon held the feast at that time, and all Israel with him, a great assembly, from the entrance of Hamath to the Brook of Egypt, before the Lord our God, Seven Days. I'm not saying your wrong. Its just strange that my bible reads 7 days and than it has a footnote stating quote "Gk: Heb seven days and seven days, fourteen days." Very strange or weird.

Yes, that's interesting! I like it when people tell me about things like this. What version have you got? I've got here the New King James, and it says it like this: "At that time Solomon held a feast, and all Israel with him, a great congregation from the entrance of Hamath to the Brook of Egypt, before the LORD our God, seven days and seven more (italics theirs)days- fourteen days." Anybody else have more info? The other day my hubby told me that according to his Bible we are to forgive seventy-seven times. I always thought it was seventy times seven. But when we looked, sure enough, his NIV says 77, while mine say 70x7.

All right. I think I was originally correct when I said 8 days. The question asked how many days "the people" celebrated. Verses 65 and 66 read:
65 And at that time Solomon held a feast, and all Israel with him, a great congregation, from the entering in of Hamath unto the river of Egypt, before the LORD our God, seven days and seven days, even fourteen days.
66 On the eighth day he sent the people away: and they blessed the king, and went unto their tents joyful and glad of heart for all the goodness that the LORD had done for David his servant, and for Israel his people.
See! In 66 it says the PEOPLE went home on the 8th day. Everyone knows it's not a party when no one's there to celebrate!
:)
A more important question in my mind is, why was the 15th day called the 8th day? Or rather, why was the 1st day of the week called the 8th day? Is there some significance to the 8th day?

To me, it sounds like they celebrated for 7 days as a great congregation, and then 7 more days in their homes. Why? I don't know
Perhaps it was to bring the spiritual experience with them as they went to their homes
