Would you consider writing secular stories? Can you give a reason for your answer?

I am tempted to write secular stories, I have to admit. The reason for the temptation is that people take secular writers more seriously. When someone finds out I write books, their eyes light up. When they find out I write Christian novels, the light dims noticeably. So for my own pride, I am tempted to write secular fiction. If I could be successful at it, I would be more respected in my career and make considerably more money at it.

Would I write secular work? Nope. I promised God that if He would give me some success in my writing that I would always write for Him. He's holding up His end... I can't back out now!

Interesting. I haven't done much spiritual writing. I've written 2 motion pictures, and one pilot for a TV show. I have done a lot of music, but very little in the church. When I prayed about this, the answer was "Your gift is for the world." It took awhile to accept it. All my best to you and your writing!
