The question is ... why would one want cats around your place???!!! Now ... birds I can understand ... but cats will just frighten the God given birds.

How can I make an outdoor squirrel-proof catfeeder? Let 'em eat acorns! ...the squirrels, that is. \dAb I don't know how many cats you are trying to feed. But if they are feral, or even just your outside cats, put out food only once a day and then only put out half of what you think the cat will eat. That will encourage the cats to eat all the food plus they won't be to full to hunt for mice. Just keep fresh water out at all times.
