From conversations with some Conference Presidents, it seems that there is more and more problems with the wives 'stepping out'.
I think we set them up for that, moving often, no close friends, hubby gone helping others (and often being told he does a good job, just not good enough and he should do more) Then one day someone comes along and treats her as if she is special... and so forth..
What are your thoughts on that? AND where can they go for help?

Yes, that can and does happen. But there is still no excuse for a sin problem be it the man or woman. We can give many reasons to sin but it all comes back to the couple’s commitment---- to each other and to God.
There are support groups for the pastor’s wives. Newsletters, prayer groups and getting together a couple times a year at a retreat.
I can write more about this later.

Well now, you have hit a nerve. You mean that there are two sides of a story here? But of course there is. All people need to feel appreciated and loved. If the pastor is getting all the attention then his wife may feel left out. The reason my mother wrote her story is specifically for pastoral couples (and any couple) to learn the pitfalls of Satan. Remember, Eve’s first sin was not the apple, it was leaving her husband’s side. Couples must stay close to each other and God. All couples need time out every week with only each other. A pastor can become too busy doing the Lord’s work. The Lord’s work however, begins at home. Virginia Coombs

Hello everyone:
If you are interested in contacting me for a speaking appointment you can do so at mabled@uccsda.org or call me at (509)838-2761 ext. 503. Domestic violence and related abuse issues are destroying relationships, homes, churches and communities and I am thankful that we, as a faith community, are discussing the topic and seeking ways in which we can work together to eradicate the intergenerational cycle of abuse. Blessings to you all.
