About this person named Delwin Finch... married, children, citizenship, hobbies.. what is this about birds?

Umm, well, I have been married to Doreen "Rosie" Dalley for over 21 years now. We have no children, but that just means we get to spoil everyone else's kids. We met 23 years ago at a Sabbath afternoon potluck at Andrews University (isn't that where all good SDA singles go to mingle?). My wife teaches 1st graders at Forest Lake Education Center and is the best first grade teacher EVER! (I'm not biased or anything). My father is a Canadian from the charming little town of Sydney, British Columbia and my mother was born in this tiny town of Oakes, North Dakota, so I guess that makes me half-and-half and proud of both sides of the border.

I enjoy gardening, scuba diving, and building computers. I especially enjoy puttering around in my garden and growing tropical fruit like mangoes, which aren't supposed to be able to grow this far north. The fact that I even have a garden in this suburban neighborhood development is a source of consternation to some, but I'm quite proud of my sugar cane, Cambodian Giant Eggplant and gunga (pigeon) peas no matter what they say. :-)

Likethebirds. Well, that has been my AIM handle for years and I use it as a logon for most any chat type of environment. It's a reference to my last name: Finch. Once when I worked at a call center (a short lived and painful career choice) I would always be spelling my rather unusual name, Delwin, and then no one seemed to comprehend my last name as well (perhaps I need to enunciate better) so I would end up saying "Delwin Finch...D..E..L..W...I..N...Finch, like the birds" and it just sorta stuck from there. When I started blogging not too long ago it was a natural choice for a domain name since it has been my online moniker for these many years.
