Club Adventist
Welcome with open arms fellow believers who don’t see things the way you do.
And don’t jump all over them every time they do or say something you don’t agree with
– even when it seems that they are strong on opinions but weak in the faith department.
Remember, they have their own history to deal with. Treat them gently. Romans 14.1: The Message

Hmm. What do you call a person who is against abortion in nearly 100% of the cases, and who is against the death penalty in 100% of the cases?? Whatever that label is, that's what I am. I don't really think I "fit" in any of the descriptions mentioned above. But, who knows, I could be wrong...and not understanding the categorizations as they've been presented.

Words have meanings and often times those meanings are derived from society rather than from a dictionary. We society uses certain words over and over again with specific applications the words take on those meanings. I am simply recognizing that and not trying to fight the widespread use of the terms "pro-life" and "pro-choice". I accept society's use of the terms for what it is.

And here I thought, God called you to a higher purpose than to just settle for what society's standards are....Oh well, my mistake....

While we're conjecturing, the same could be said about all those murderers like Hitler who were thankfully never born.

People who just follow the 'party line' are well... (add your own word here)

Even Bonny, my pet goldfish is confused on this one..

If people are concerned about brutal practices in abortion, they should be reasonable, and move for restrictions, like no abortion is allowed after the 1st trimester, and make it free, and hand out "morning after pills" to whoever needs them, and free birth control, or at least very cheap.

However, if they want a never-ending soapbox to get up on, then they can be as unrealistic as they want.

We're dealing with a secular government, here. The same liberty that protects a woman's right to choose, also protects our right to keep the Sabbath, and our freedom of speech.

To be against the very concept of war, in a sinful world, is fanatical, and not Biblical. However, the prophets condemn wars that are waged for no good reason, but just to conquer and to gain wealth and territory.

1 Sam. 15:33 And Samuel said, As thy sword hath made women childless, so shall thy mother be childless among women. And Samuel hewed Agag in pieces before the LORD in Gilgal.

And several times, we see God's people not taking the spoils, to make sure everyone knows, they didn't do it for the money. I can think of Esther, and Abraham.

And the Bible teaches that every sovereign power has the right to impose the death penalty.

Romans 13:3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil...
13:4 For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to [execute] wrath upon him that doeth evil.

How is he going to be a terror to evil-doers if he can't use his sword?

Looks like a combination of two verses:

Luke 1:14 And thou shalt have joy and gladness; and many shall rejoice at his birth.
1:15 For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother's womb.

Luke 1:41 And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost:

That doesn't mean every baby is filled with the Holy Ghost when it is conceived. And "from the womb", would arguably not be the same thing as "from conception".

There's also this one:

Gen. 25:22 And the children struggled together within her; and she said, If [it be] so, why [am] I thus? And she went to inquire of the LORD.
25:23 And the LORD said unto her, Two nations [are] in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels; and [the one] people shall be stronger than [the other] people; and the elder shall serve the younger.

That's because those children have a destiny. Their parents wanted them, and prayed for them. They will have God-fearing parents who love them. They are not the unwanted result of rape, incest, prostitution, or a one night stand.

1 Cor. 7:14 For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean; but now are they holy.

Point well takem, revealing why the hypothetical seldom reveals Truth.

You simply need to understand the definition of "Pro Life" and then you will have your question answered. bwink

Now if that were in context I might have greater understanding. reyes
