Club Adventist

Welcome with open arms fellow believers who don’t see things the way you do.
And don’t jump all over them every time they do or say something you don’t agree with
– even when it seems that they are strong on opinions but weak in the faith department.
Remember, they have their own history to deal with. Treat them gently. Romans 14.1: The Message

Is there anything wrong about a person having an unlisted telephone number?

Why would anything be wrong with that?

I have no problem with it. But recently I saw someone question that, someone that wanted to get in touch with someone whom I knew had an unlisted number (I would not give it out).

The person told me that s/he wished that person would get help so that s/he wouldn't need to have an unlisted number anymore.

I just said, Maybe this person just didn't want unsolicited calls.

That's how I left it. I didn't want to make my mind work overtime!

That really says more about the person wanting the number, than it does about the person with the unlisted one. Sounds like a "control" issue.

When growing up we always had a listed number, it was a small town, and it wasn't a big deal.

Since being married, and in a much larger town, we have had a listed number twice. Once it was just one number off from a local news station....So we were constantly fielding calls for them, and some people were down right rude, and wouldn't believe that they had misdialed. So we changed the number and then found out that it was one number off from a pizza place.

Then we went unlisted, and have never had any further problems. Most of my friends and family though, ask me if I mind "so and so" having my number before they just give it out--- I always ask before I give out other's phone numbers too--I think that is just common courtesy.

You got it right, Liz.

One of my family members has an unlisted number because they were subject to harrassing calls, the rest of us are all in the regular directory.

Everyone has the right to make the choice, without criticism.
