will be given May 9, 10 at Loma Linda University in California, and May
17, 18 at Adventist Health System in Winter Park, Florida. It's
offered by the Fund Raising School of Indiana University and
Philanthropic Service for Institutions and is aimed especially at
teaching CEO's and fund raising professionals what works in a capital
campaign and how to prepare their organizations for a successful fund
raising initiative.
Attendees will learn things such as the role of capital fund
raising in the development program, determining an organization's
readiness for capital fund raising, planning a capital campaign from
preparation to celebration, enlisting and motivating the right volunteer
leadership for the capital campaign, effective use of a consultant, and
other skills and tools useful for effective fund raising.

** BEWARE OF CON MAN - "Jason" plays the "trust game," usually
with a young person or youth pastor. He's described as middle aged,
grey hair, big build, pot belly. He tells a story about a youth pastor
having an affair with his wife, he's going through a divorce, and he
doesn't trust the church which is only after money. Then he says,
"if money isn't important to you, then hand me your credit
card." He holds it for a bit, and then hands it back. Somehow he gets
the card and pin numbers. A college student gave him money from an ATM,
playing the trust game, with the promise to get it back the next day
when meeting for a Bible study. Some have lost several hundred to
several thousand dollars. Known hits are three people in southern
California and one in Nebraska. He has a good knowledge of the Bible and
apparently has a Southern Baptist background.
Please tell your churches and schools to "play it cool," and
contact police if approached by this man.
