The Voice in the Wilderness

[This chapter is based on Luke 1:5-23 , 57-80 ; 3:1-18 ; Matthew 3:1-12 ; Mark 1:1-8.]

Sorry Christine, I kept hoping someone would start Ch. 10, so finally, early Sun. morning I put some of my thoughts in the chapter 10 I started. Is it possible to delete one of these? You can remove mine, if you want to.

One of the strong points of this chapter is having faith in God’s power. I love this thought (from Messiah): “Zechariah forgot that when God promises something, He makes it happen.”

And then the chapter goes on to draw a lesson for us today. “The birth of Zechariah’s son, like the birth of Abraham’s son, has a lesson for us all. It teaches a great spiritual truth: we are not capable of anything good by ourselves. But the things we cannot do can be done if we have faith in God’s power. By faith, they could believe that a promised child would be born. Through faith, we can believe that we are re-born to obey God’s law and follow Jesus’ way.”
