So brothers and sisters.... what is your favorite hymn?

Mine are as follows:

1. I Have A Friend So Precious (My Lord and I)
2. Brightly Beams Our Fathers Mercy
3. Jesus Loves Me
4. Sitting At The Feet Of Jesus
5. Beyond The Sunset

These are my top five. What are yours?

At this moment I can't think of my real favorites. But I love: "Do Lord," when going to sleep my grandson asks for me to sing this to him. Ever since he was a little baby, whenever he was really restless I'd sing that song and he would finally fall asleep. Other songs he likes is "With Jesus in the family," "Give me oil in my lamp," "Jesus loves the little Children," "Jesus loves me this I know." So at this moment these are my favorites too. :)

Yes those are all wonderful songs! (Most of the old Sabbath School Favourites)

It is comforting to know that we have a Saviour that will always remember us, never leave us and always forgive us.

It is Well

Yes, definitely - It is Well - all-time favorite.

In 1873, Horatio Spafford wrote the words to the hymn "It is Well with My Soul" after the tragic death of his four daughters. (He wrote it on the ocean while sailing near the spot where his daughters died.)Very moving.

I think of that story almost every time I hear the song. I hadn't known about his other losses. His song and life shows such triumph over tragedy!

I remember his name associated with the Chicago fire. Apparently he had helped victims of the fire with aid for about 2 years before deciding his family needed a vacation...

Dealing with all that sorrow, he couldn't have known what awaited him.

I have pondered this questions since I read the first post. I seem to be fickle about what are my favorite songs. I hear a song and think "That is my choice" then I hear another and think 'that is it' ......... I love music very much and don't think I could narrow it down to a few.

Everytime I read one which has you-all have mentioned, I think Yeal ..

Wonderful Words of Life (I first heard this on my very first visit to Adventist church), Shine Jesus Shine, Just as I Am, Sanctuary, What a Friend we Have In Jesus.

This is one. Come, let us put down our weapons and worship at the feet of Jesus. Bet we'll see and feel an immense difference! :)

My favourites are:

I meant to be responding to the song "It is well with my soul." They were like Mr. and Mrs. Job, weren't they.

It is very encouraging that God was able to give him words like that in a place like that. God knew He couldn't take more, and reminded Him what He'd been teaching all along, that He was "well" when God was close.
