....is a documentary film based on the book Constantine's Sword about persecution and violence in the name of God. He traces Christian sponsored anti antisemitism down through time and hints that it still exists today with in Evangelicalism. The film shows how religion is being used in the Military systems and the words used to justify wars by saying "God is on our side". I have not read the book by James Carrol, a former priest and part of an historical military family but it certainly sounds most interesting and received many awards for the research involved.
He was raised in the RC church, with Jews as the 'enemy' because they killed Christ. I remember growing up with in the SDA church, as seeing the RC's as the enemy because the Pope was taking the place of God. Are we that different? Are there not discussions going on about the authority of the GC that supersedes the conscience of individual, and questioning of persons real allegiance, God, GC, EGW or just themselves?
Highly recommend the film for those interested in the topic on 'separation and state'. It also makes one think about our on views, as Christians, about the role of Muslims and other religions.
