It's no surprise she urged us to move to the country.
Some 50 odd years ago when I was just out of the Marine Corp and following the work to decide where I would live, I was offered work in law enforcement and found it interesting enough to put effort toward advancing myself in that direction. When I failed to pass my 90 day probation as a police officer in the pacific northwest, I succumbed to the lure of money in southern California, still in law enforcement, to the tune of double the amount of income I had been making previously.
The trouble is when arriving for the interview after driving all night to get there and with no sleep, having to apologize for looking like a disheveled homeless person, my interview went over like a lead balloon.
Finally settling for a dead end job with little or no future, I recall telling the Lord there was no way I could consider buying a home without a rent with option to buy and since I was jobless at the time and housing was very difficult to get into, it was like wishing on a star for a pipe dream.
My wife and I after driving many, many miles chasing housing leads that promised only a 3-room apartment with one light in the living area, hanging by a single electric cord for around $425, we ran into an ad promising rent with option to buy.
Lo and behold it led us to a place we thought we'd never be able to get into, where we made a deal that put us in a place in the country, where people pay thousands of dollars to vacation to, just to view where we live every day. And I didn't have to start carrying a gun to get the privilege. And by the way, its' in the country.
Praise God!
"Behold, as the eyes of servants look to the hand of their master,
As the eyes of a maid to the hand of her mistress,
So our eyes look to the Lord our God,
Until He is gracious to us."Psalm 123:2 NASB
God blesses!
