Today veteran journalist Chris Hedges spoke on CBC radio with a sobering account of the effects of aggressive capitalism & globalization upon American society. He's promoting a new book called "Days of Destruction, Days of Revolt", describing destitute regions of the country which have become invisible people groups.

Then I found this related You Tube interview:

Unfortunately this is the tip of the iceberg. However, corporate America is not "faceless" Every company large & small has a board, CEO, etc. they have names! What to do about it? Probably not much anyone can do, but at least lay the blame where it belongs: Politically & Corporately. Nufsad

We have to remember another side to the issue, not just finger point. Americans demands and expects more for less. Companies obviously look for places and peoples that can feed that desire. The unpleasant side is that consumers don't want to know where or how the products they use are manufactured or their impact on people or environments. Blameing corporations and demanding they 'change' will not solve the issues.

(besides, it smacks of liberalism LOL)

Not to mention the fact that we all share a measure of blame when it comes to the state of society. My share must be to do the best I can in the sphere of my influence. We cannot change the world for the better by finding ways and means to make sure others hold up their end of the difficulties. That means the part that isn't going to change anytime soon is being held where it is by those who have a "me first" attitude, and that portion of society in general is getting larger and larger.

So where can we look for hope? I know, but I won't voice it here just now as there are some who believe it to be, at the least "politically incorrect", and at the worst, "hate crimes".

And so, to each his own, until the One Who can will set it all in order.

God blesses! peace

The radio interview was more detailed as he described specific communities. I think his research spanned two years in these deprived regions. He spoke of Camden, NJ, which apparently is the *poorest* and *most dangerous* town in America - I've forgotten the exact descriptives.

And southern West Virginia where coal mining towns are now ghost towns - except people live there "invisible" to the media. Likewise the grinding poverty of the Lakota at Pine Ridge reservation in South Dakota.

And Florida migrant workers who are modern day slaves, rented, not bought, so expendable without investment loss.

He sees the future as an upper class of 3-4%, with an administration of 12-15%. Below that everyone will become an indentured laborer. It's a horrifying picture of the world to come, but very realistic if one has followed the downward trend.

Prophecy is coming to pass and it's those in the world which are raising the alarm. During the radio interview, he said the U.S mainstream media would not touch his story, except for one network.

EGW spoke of Gigantic Monopolies, and trade union unrest bringing about the worst violence the world has ever seen.

The GC Dept. of Public Affairs and Religious Liberty published this in a small pamphlet entitled
Counsels From the Spirit of Prophecy on Labor Unions and Confederacies, Takoma Park, MD. No date.

It's no surprise she urged us to move to the country.

Some 50 odd years ago when I was just out of the Marine Corp and following the work to decide where I would live, I was offered work in law enforcement and found it interesting enough to put effort toward advancing myself in that direction. When I failed to pass my 90 day probation as a police officer in the pacific northwest, I succumbed to the lure of money in southern California, still in law enforcement, to the tune of double the amount of income I had been making previously.

The trouble is when arriving for the interview after driving all night to get there and with no sleep, having to apologize for looking like a disheveled homeless person, my interview went over like a lead balloon.

Finally settling for a dead end job with little or no future, I recall telling the Lord there was no way I could consider buying a home without a rent with option to buy and since I was jobless at the time and housing was very difficult to get into, it was like wishing on a star for a pipe dream.

My wife and I after driving many, many miles chasing housing leads that promised only a 3-room apartment with one light in the living area, hanging by a single electric cord for around $425, we ran into an ad promising rent with option to buy.

Lo and behold it led us to a place we thought we'd never be able to get into, where we made a deal that put us in a place in the country, where people pay thousands of dollars to vacation to, just to view where we live every day. And I didn't have to start carrying a gun to get the privilege. And by the way, its' in the country.
Praise God!

"Behold, as the eyes of servants look to the hand of their master,
As the eyes of a maid to the hand of her mistress,
So our eyes look to the Lord our God,
Until He is gracious to us."
Psalm 123:2 NASB
