Hello everyone! I am relatively new to Christianity, having spent the first 40 years of my life as a skeptic and agnostic. A couple of years ago, I started exploring Christianity and with the guidance of brilliant apologists such as Ravi Zacharias , C.S. Lewis, and Greg Koukl. The study of Christian apologetics helped me to reconcile some of my intellectual objections to Christianity. My wife's interest in the Seventh Day Sabbath led me to a study of Adventism, since this was the only Sabbatarian option available in our area. The Internet is not kind to Adventists is it? I spent a lot of time reading about the Adventist Church; both positive and critical viewpoints (I found Desmond Ford to be a fascinating individual, I also enjoyed reading Alden Thompson's works). My wife and I started attending our local Adventist Church, and by divine providence, I was introduced to a truly amazing man, a former Dean of Andrews University. After many long philosophical discussions about Adventist doctrine, and meeting all of the wonderful people in our congregation, I was baptized in May of 2012.

Praise the Lord. Sound like you are off to a great start. Doesn't get much better than Alden Thompson. :)

Hi Esquared. I am sort of new to the faith. I have always been a Christian. Sometime ago I was a back-slidden Christian but by Gods grace I came back. Welcome. I am new to Adventism myself and it took quite a bit of a struggle to come to where I am now. I prayed and prayed for a group of people where I could have real fellowship and and God sent a former atheist now Adventist evangelist from Russia to my doorstep. I was blown away because my daughter had become an atheist and I needed the comfort only this man could tell me about. My health was failing from diabetes and I was working 2 jobs. I NEEDED the Sabbath. Praise God that he loves me and answered my prayer plus more. I would like to warn you of something. I used to be a fan of C. S. Lewis, be careful of his works, do a little research and do not take my word for it, he was into the occult and new age before it was even called by those names. I have dropped C S Lewis like a bad habit.

Hello everyone, I am new to being an Adventist. I was raised in the Church of Christ and later became a Pentecostal because I believed the Church of Christ denied the power of the Holy Spirit. Later in life after a stint in the Army and a Divorce I was totally lost. Some of the Pentecostal and Charismatic movement seemed contrived or fake and much was not Biblical. Working two jobs with diabetes seven days a week to support my family were killing me. My wife a Catholic started doing Bible study with a very well educated Adventist Bible teacher. It was no accident that God sent this guy to me and my wife(her mother died and she had questions about death). He had a tough background and anyone else I would of tossed out of my house. Right away I had respect for him. God is so kind to me. I am nobody but he always answers my questions and years before I was fed up with church walked out and asked for real fellowship and helped me with my health issues at the same time. I now go to a church where everyone is proud of Christ and talks about God in and out of the Church. Because of Sabbath I now take the time to live life.

Well, how about that? Praise God that you now have time to live life!! Jesus said that He came that we might have life and have it more abundantly- you are receiving a fulfillment of that promise already!

Thanks for visiting with us and I hope to see more of you in the future :)

Hey mesaba,

Welcome! You are a charismatic turned Adventist; and I am an Adventist just beginning my walk in the charismatic. We "planted" an SDA church and were meeting in the basement of a charismatic church. Some of them came to our service and offered to teach us about moving in the spirit in exchange for us teaching them about the Bible. Now we have a bunch of sober Sabbath-keeping charismatics in our church (also a bunch of Adventists with prayer languages - LOL)! It's actually been a pretty good "marriage" so far.
