During Viet Nam, the son of a SDA minister recieved the Silver Star for heroism in combat. He was an unarmed medic. The answer to your question is not well known. I do not have a good answer to that question. I blieve that a number of Bronze Stars have been given to unarmed SDA medics.

I have recieved the Leigon of Merit, as well as some other medals. But, none of my medals, of high rank, were for combat action. The LM was not a combat decoration, in my case.
