Club Adventist
Welcome with open arms fellow believers who don’t see things the way you do.
And don’t jump all over them every time they do or say something you don’t agree with
– even when it seems that they are strong on opinions but weak in the faith department.
Remember, they have their own history to deal with. Treat them gently. Romans 14.1: The Message

Jeremiah 9:23 This is what the LORD says:
"Let not the wise man boast of his wisdom or the strong man boast of his strength or the rich man boast of his riches,
but let him who boasts boast about this: that he understands and knows me,
that I am the LORD, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight," declares the LORD .

Wives: One ex, and one present. Both named Sharon.

Children: One Senior at a SDA high-school.
Two adult children. One is a correctional officer at a major state prison. The other is employed by a company that leases household appliances.

Text: The Lord is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentence. Adapted from 2 Peter 3:9

Lived: Asia, Central America, California, Colorado, Michigan, N. Carolina, Texas, Virginia, Kansas, New York City, New Jersey, the Carribian island of Grenada.

NOTE: Kansas, Grenada, and New York City were for short periods of time. I.e. I lived in New York City for 3 months once, and 6 months at another time. I was lived on Grenada for 33 days.

I have traveled in all 50 of the United States, Japan, Costa Rica, and Honduras, as well as living in Korea (twice for a total of 35 months) and Panama.

I build computers for a hobby. Computers are my hobby.

I would like to stay right here in the home I presently own. We shall see.

What I hate: I hate moving.

Good memories: Parents who loved me, and did their best. A God who has loved me and done more for me than I deserve.

Favororite foods: lentels, califlower and other quite simple North American foods. Then there are some of the tropical fruits that we cannot purchase in the United States. I am a simple person when it comes to food. A bowl of cooked lentals with onion and garlic, spooned over a slice of wheat bread with margarine on it, and some salt. Yum. Oh, new potatoes, boiled. Yum. My wife knows that if she asks me what I want for a birthday meal I wiss say some of the above and not mention any deserts.

Chaplain Matthews, I have really appreciated your posts here and I'm glad that we have this thread talking about you and the military chaplaincy. I am enjoying these. As I read this one I wondered if you could tell what years you were in, where you were stationed, and maybe some of the stories that you can share about your ministry to the military.
