How do you get discussion going in your Sabbath School class (or your teacher does)?

Here's how I personally try to do it:
1. I throw out a general question (like those posted) that goes to the heart of the lesson. 2. As people respond, I try to summarize what each is saying to make sure the class understands and to acknowledge each person's contribution. 3. If I've done it right, people start asking their own questions they've raised as they study the lesson. At that point, the discussion usually keeps rolling along although I may start the process over again about mid-point with yet another angle of the lesson.
Note: I don't go through the lesson day by day or page by page. We refer to the quarterly only when someone notices a particular thought he/she wants to emphasize.
