2. Before the ASI convention in Dallas, the ASI leaders and local
pastors had organized nine evangelistic meetings conducted by young

3. Elder Al McClure, former president of the North American Division,
passed away on Tuesday, August 1, 2006. For the past few years he has
been battling lung cancer. After his initial chemotherapy treatments,
he regained strength, and was able to travel, attend church, and walk a
mile or two each day. Just in the last few weeks, the tumors were found
in the brain, and radiation treatments were begun, but the treatments
did not bring success in dealing with the tumors. Even last Sabbath
when I visited him in the hospital, he recognized me immediately when I
walked in, shook hands, and then asked me about my latest trip and about
other business in the church.
Memorial services will be at the Collegedale Adventist Church, on the
Campus of Southern Adventist University, on Sabbath, August 5, 2006, at
3:00 p.m. The family will receive visitors at the church after the
service.
