🚀 Science group pushing Kelly to run A liberal group working to elect scientists to public office has a 2028 message for Arizona Sen. — and former astronaut — Mark Kelly: Run, Kelly, run. Why it matters: 314 Action Fund has raised its profile this cycle, elevating candidates with STEM backgrounds who've pitched themselves as a bulwark against public health cuts and Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. 💰 The organization said it raised more than $100 million over the past decade — including $25 million during the 2026 midterms, more than half of which it spent on this year's Democratic primaries. Zoom in: Joshua Morrow, president of the 314 Action Fund, told Axios, "I'd love Mark Kelly to run" for president. "If Mark Kelly ran, we'd be there day one." Kelly has done events with 314 Action, and the group urged former Vice President Kamala Harris to pick him as her running mate in 2024. She chose Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz instead. 👩‍🔬 Morrow argued that scientist candidates are tapping into the electorate's hunger for "outsiders": "For so long the Democratic Party promoted the same type of candidate and the same type of person, and it's like, that doesn't work." Why it matters: They aren't running for president — they're vying for statewide office in presidential battlegrounds, and their campaigns are closely watched tests of the Bernie Sanders–style populism they want the party to embrace in 2028. It's a question that has haunted Democrats for a decade: Is America ready for a full-on left turn in politics, like what Sanders pitched when he ran for president in 2016? The prospect worries old-guard Democrats who fear Hong and El-Sayed can't win in November. 🚙 Driving the news: Hong, a self-described democratic socialist running for Wisconsin governor, is leading the polls for Tuesday's primary by double digits, as top Democrats try to stop her. She told us a win in November could boost progressive presidential hopefuls in the future. "A victory for our campaign is a victory for working-class people in Wisconsin and across the country — and it could signal to many candidates that we have common issues that we can be fighting for," Hong said. August 9, 2026 The Life Giver “I am the resurrection, and the life.” (John 11:25) In the gospel of John there are seven “I am” statements where Jesus claims to be one with the Father, e.g., “I and my Father are one” (John 10:30). Jesus isn’t just God’s representative; He is God Himself—Immanuel—God with us. Being such, He is our Creator—our Life Giver. The same Jesus Christ who breathed His last breath on the cross breathed life into the first Adam (Genesis 2:7). “And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit” (1 Corinthians 15:45). A “quickening spirit” is a life-giving spirit. In a great reversal, the last Adam brings forth the life that the first Adam’s fall took away. During His ministry, Jesus gave physical life. The hands that created the earth, moon, and sun touched Jairus’ dead daughter’s hand and said, “Maid, arise. And her spirit came again, and she arose” (Luke 8:54-55). He also “cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth. And he that was dead came forth” (John 11:43-44). The purpose of His ministry was to give spiritual, eternal life to sinners. He said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life” (14:6). As “the life,” death could not hold Him after His crucifixion and never held any power over Him. “I lay down my life, that I might take it again” (10:17). Because of His death and resurrection, now anyone can receive the living water “springing up into everlasting life” (4:14), and Jesus “will raise him up at the last day” (6:44). Jesus is indeed “he that liveth,” but He is far more than that (Revelation 1:18). Resurrection and eternal life reside in the person of Jesus—life-giving is part of His essence. Christ had to do as we must do or there was no point in His coming. Here is more on this .. Christ's perfect humanity is the same that man may have through connection with Christ. As God, Christ could not be tempted any more than He was not tempted from His allegiance in heaven. But as Christ humbled Himself to the nature of man, He could be tempted. He had not taken on Him even the nature of the angels, but humanity, perfectly identical with our own nature, except without the taint of sin. A human body, a human mind, with all the peculiar properties, He was bone, brain, and muscle. A man of our flesh, He was compassed with the weakness of humanity. The circumstances of His life were of that character that He was exposed to all the inconveniences that belong to men, not in wealth, not in ease, but in poverty and want and humiliation. He breathed the very air man must breathe. He trod our earth as man. He had reason, conscience, memory, will, and affections of the human soul which was united with His divine nature. Our Lord was tempted as man is tempted. He was capable of yielding to temptations, as are human beings. His finite nature was pure and spotless, but the divine nature that led Him to say to Philip, "He that hath seen Me hath seen the Father" also, was not humanized; neither was humanity deified by the blending or union of the two natures; each retained its essential character and properties. But here we must not become in our ideas common and earthly, and in our perverted ideas we must not think that the liability of Christ to yield to Satan's temptations degraded His humanity and He possessed the same sinful, corrupt propensities as man. The divine nature, combined with the human, made Him capable of yielding to Satan's temptations. Here the test to Christ was far greater than that of Adam and Eve, for Christ took our nature, fallen but not corrupted, and would not be corrupted unless He received the words of Satan in the place of the words of God. To suppose He was not capable of yielding to temptation places Him where He cannot be a perfect example for man, and the force and the power of this part of Christ's humiliation, which is the most eventful, is no instruction or help to human beings. But the facts of this history are not fable, but a living, acting, experience. [To deny this] would rob Jesus of His greatest glory--allegiance to God--which enshrouded Him as a garment in this world on the field of battle with the relentless foe, and He is not reckoned with the transgressor. He descended in His humiliation to be tempted as man would be tempted, and His nature was that of man, capable of yielding to temptation. His very purity and holiness were assailed by a fallen foe, the very one that became corrupted and then was ejected from heaven. How deeply and keenly must Christ have felt this humiliation."

Ellen White discusses the "herd of swine" primarily in The Desire of Ages (pages 337–338) and The Great Controversy in Chapter 31. She explains that Jesus allowed demons to enter the pigs to rebuke Jews raising unclean animals for profit, save the owners from destruction, and show Satan's cruel power. The demons seemed to be clearly afraid of where Christ could send them and thus pleaded to be sent into the swine rather than the alternative.

People should be free to avoid vaccines. The gov't should construct camps. Put all the antivaxxers in them, regardless of the reasons for their belief. Charge them a fee for every day they are kept there. Some countries in Asia did something similar during Covid. Even vaccinated people in "red" zones were corralled into quarantine camps Probably not widely publicized, some Asian countries were more or less a slaughterhouse during Covid. Basic medical supplies were unavailable. Neighboring countries sealed their borders. There were online videos available, possibly fake, of people dying in the streets. I've seen enough miraculous happenings through modern medicine to consider antivaxxers stupid, no matter how smart they are. People die from throat spray, peanut dust, bee stings. Dead people are brought back to life through code blue measures, recover from AIDS through antivirals. People in the midst of a heart attack can be relieved through interventional cardiology. Individual rights should end when freedom exposes other people to danger. There are already laws which empower public health officials to forcibly quarantine [lock 'em up] individuals with communicable disease. Years ago in Sacramento, there was a guy, possibly an illegal immigrant, who had multiple drug resistant TB. He was quarantined in his own home. One day a public health official happened by to discover numerous children playing with him. The guy was arrested and forced into a secure location where he could not start an epidemic of a devastating disease. You think people with Ebola are allowed to roam around freely? Time to remove the tin foil pyramid spinner cap, toss the crystals and either self isolate OR get vaccinated.

Now here is something interesting that a Jewish brother gave on Jesus is Jehovah the YHWH of the Old Testament, so would need to be confirmed. He quoted scripture then gave the following.. John 17:17 (KJV) 17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. No matter how you slice it, you either abide by the truth or... If I may... The interpretation of the Jews "thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain" included not mispronouncing his name. So they forbade pronouncing his name and instead spoke the word "adonai" (lord) whenever they came across the name YHVH in the scriptures. When vowel points were later introduced to the Hebrew scriptures (usually above or below the consonants) and with YHVH they wrote the vowels for adonai to remind the reader to say adonai. This produced the hybrid name Jehovah by later interpreters who did not know this about the Jewish substitution of adonai for YHVH and the vowel point indicators. Y later became J in re-translation from Hebrew to Greek to Latin and Germanic to modern English. YHVH plus the vowels for adonai became YaHoVaH / Jehovah. Some claim the high priests preserved the pronunciation of the name YHVH down through the ages, but most realize the exact pronunciation was lost over time from the paranoia of mispronouncing it.,,,,

You can see that Jesus is called the first-born, not the first-created. The word "firstborn" (Greek word "prototokos") signifies priority. In the culture of the ancient times, the first-born was not necessarily the oldest child, as it referred not to birth order but to rank. The first-born possessed the inheritance and leadership. Therefore, the phrase ' the firstborn of every creature', expresses Christ's sovereignty over creation. We also see the phrase recognizes Him as the Messiah, we see in these verses.. Psalm 89:27 Also I will make him [Christ] my firstborn, higher than the kings of the earth. Romans 8:29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. Six times the Lord Jesus is declared to be the first-born of God (see Colossians 1:15, 18; Hebrews 1:6; 12:23; Revelation 1:5). These passages declare the preexistence, the sovereignty, and the redemption that Christ offers.Thus, the phrase "first-born of all creation" proclaims Christ's preeminence. Now lets look at the point made that Jesus is never called the 'Almighty' in the entire bible. Let us now turn to Revelation 1:8: Revelation 1:8 I am the Alpha and the Omega, says Jehovah God, the One who is and who was, and who is coming, the Almighty. Clearly, he who is Alpha and Omega, and who is also 'the Almighty' is 'Jehovah God' himself. Now lets look further in the Chapter: Revelation 1:12-13 King James Version (KJV) 12 And I turned to see the voice that spake with me. And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks;13 And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle. John sees one 'like unto a son of man.' Now notice the context from here on, from verses 14 through 16 he is describing how this 'son of man' looked. Now this same son of man says in verses 17 and 18: Revelation 1:17-18 King James Version (KJV) 17 And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last:18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death. We notice, that the 'son of man' is the same person who, according to verse 17 and 18, is the 'First and the Last' and who also 'became dead.' Who else is this but Jesus Christ, who is constantly referred to through scripture as the 'son of man' and who 'became dead.' You have to say that the one speaking in verses 17 and 18 is Jesus, because you do not believe God can die. Now if it is true that this is Jesus, how is it that he is also called the First and the Last, which is the same as the Alpha and the Omega? And since God is the one claiming to be the 'Alpha and Omega' in verse 8, Jesus Christ, who also claims this title in verses 17 and 18, must therefore be the same one who spoke in verse 8. Now this poses a problem because he who spoke in verse 8 said that he is the 'Almighty.' There is another reason to believe that the one speaking in verse 8 is the same person who speaks in verses 17 and 18. Verse 8 says that Jehovah God is the one 'who is coming.' There is another verse which also shows that God is the one coming found in Revelation 22: Revelation 22:6-7 King James Version (KJV) 6 And he said unto me, These sayings are faithful and true: and the Lord God of the holy prophets sent his angel to shew unto his servants the things which must shortly be done. 7 Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book. Take note that it is 'Lord [Jehovah] God' who is coming 'quickly.' Now read verse 12 and 13: Revelation 22:12-13 12 And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be 13 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. We see that God says that he is coming quickly, and also that he is Alpha and Omega. Now read the rest of the chapter, and note carefully verse 20, which reads: Revelation 22:20 He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus. We now find, that he who we have seen is coming quickly and claiming to be the 'Alpha and Omega' is none other then Jesus Christ. Revelation 1:8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.

Jehovah is the Hebrew name for God in the Old Testament. He is given as the Creator of the universe and everything in it. The name Yahweh comes from the Hebrew word for "I am," which was translated as 'Jehovah.' Whenever the name 'LORD' is printed in small caps in the Bible, it means 'YAHWEH'. For ancient Jews, the name 'YAHWEH' was so sacred that they would not speak it nor would they write it in full, but gave it as 'YHWH'. Now the scriptures is very clear that Jesus Christ is not just our Savior, but is also the Creator of the universe, Jehovah 'YAHWEH' of the Old Testament. Notice carefully: All things were made by Him, and without Him was not anything made that has been made. John 1:3 He [Jesus] was in the world, and the world was made by Him, and the world knew Him not. John 1:10 God, who created all things by Jesus Christ. Ephesians 3:9 For by Him [Jesus] all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. Colossians 1:16 Thus Jesus Christ is our Creator. The One who created, rested. Thus the Sabbath commandment, when correctly understood in the light of both the Old and New Testaments, points to Jesus Christ Now some may say but God the great Jehovah created the earth in the beginning, but here is were the mystery of the GodHead has to be understood in order to understand who Jesus was. Jesus is the Jehovah of ALL the Bible. He is the LORD Jehovah that walked in the cool of the day in Eden. Jesus was the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Jesus was Jehovah God who gave the Ten Commandments. Jesus was Jehovah God who was in the pillar of fire by night and cloud by day. Jesus was Jehovah God who appeared to Moses in the fiery bush and declared I am that I am. What Jesus claims about Himself - John 8:48-59 48 Then answered the Jews, and said unto him, Say we not well that thou art a Samaritan, and hast a devil? 49 Jesus answered, I have not a devil; but I honour my Father, and ye do dishonour me. 50 And I seek not mine own glory: there is one that seeketh and judgeth. 51 Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death. 52 Then said the Jews unto him, Now we know that thou hast a devil. Abraham is dead, and the prophets; and thou sayest, If a man keep my saying, he shall never taste of death. 53 Art thou greater than our father Abraham, which is dead? and the prophets are dead: whom makest thou thyself? 54 Jesus answered, If I honour myself, my honour is nothing: it is my Father that honoureth me; of whom ye say, that he is your God: 55 Yet ye have not known him; but I know him: and if I should say, I know him not, I shall be a liar like unto you: but I know him, and keep his saying. 56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad. 57 Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham? 58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am. 59 Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by. With solemn dignity Jesus answered, "Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I AM. Silence fell upon the vast assembly. The name of God, given to Moses to express the idea of the eternal presence, had been claimed as His own by Jesus.
