Trump Goon Accused of Inciting Violence Against Judges A complaint backed by 128 former judges says DHS lawyer James Percival put a “bullseye” on sitting jurists. Donald Trump’s top Department of Homeland Security lawyer has been accused of risking bloodshed by publishing a “Worst of the Worst” list of sitting federal judges. A group of 128 former state and federal judges, described by organizers as bipartisan, announced Wednesday that it had filed an ethics complaint against DHS general counsel James Percival. The Florida Bar member, 40, is accused of making false or recklessly misleading claims about judges who ruled against the Trump administration. Threats against judges are already widespread. Updated U.S. Marshals Service figures show 415 threats against federal judges during fiscal 2026 through Aug. 17. A total of 307 different judges were targeted. That didn’t stop Percival from unveiling his “Worst of the Worst, District Judge Edition” on his official X account July 23. He named Clinton-appointed Judge Matthew Kennelly, Obama appointees Allison Burroughs and Paula Xinis, and Biden appointee Hernán Vera. The list included no Trump appointees. Percival accused Kennelly of “judicial sabotage” over an immigration ruling. He claimed Burroughs deliberately slowed a case to obstruct deportations and described an order from Xinis as “crazy.” He also accused Vera of endangering DHS officers by restricting their use of force against journalists, legal observers and protesters. Percival continued his attacks the following day. He branded another judge, Clinton appointee Patti Saris, “rogue,” and claimed district judges were engaged in “mutiny against the Supreme Court.” Led by former Florida Supreme Court chief justice Peggy Quince, Democracy Defenders Fund and Lawyers Defending American Democracy submitted the complaint. Virginia Canter, Democracy Defenders Fund’s chief counsel and director of ethics and anti-corruption, said in a statement that Percival’s tactics “could be used to incite violence” against judges. The filing cites U.S. District Judge Esther Salas, 57, whose 20-year-old son Daniel Anderl was murdered at their home in 2020 by a lawyer angered by her judicial work. Salas said Percival was “in essence, putting a bullseye on” the named judges. The complaint also alleges Percival violated a Florida rule barring lawyers from knowingly or recklessly making false statements about a judge’s integrity. DHS has defended Percival’s posts as “nothing more than a factual review of judicial decisions and their real-world consequences.” Percival told Fox News on July 30 that he was not attacking the entire judiciary. He said he was identifying a small number of judges “who are causing the same problems over and over and over again.” When asked about the complaint that had been made against him, he told the Daily Beast in an emailed statement: “In honor of former Florida Supreme Court Justice Peggy Quince, who just filed a bar complaint against me for calling out judicial activism, I will be creating a new award. The award is called the Justice Peggy Quince Lifetime Achievement Award for Worst of the Worst Judging. I am now accepting nominees!” DHS and the White House regularly complain that threats and assaults against ICE agents have skyrocketed during Trump’s second term. DHS claimed last October that death threats had risen 8,000 percent. The Daily Beast has contacted DHS for comment. https://www.thedailybeast.com/senior-trump-dhs-official-james-percival-accused-of-inciting-violence-against-judges/? ps:They've learned from the most pathetic leader of all time!!!!! -

Trump’s White House Exodus Spirals With Major Departure Another major player in the president’s team has scrambled for the exit. One of President Donald Trump’s congressional point men has fled the White House, deepening a growing departure crisis. James Braid, described by Politico as “the top White House aide in charge of liaising with Congress,” lasted just 19 months in Trump’s tumultuous second term, a tenure punctuated by several high-profile departures. The timing will prove a headache for Trump, who, with just 75 days to go until the Midterm elections, could use a canny operator to bridge the gap between the White House and Congress. Braid follows four of his colleagues out the door, with more departures on the horizon. Andy Baker, 46, the White House’s deputy national security adviser and close ally to Vice President JD Vance, is on his way out. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, 28, White House Counsel David Warrington, 58, and Deputy Press Secretary Abigail Jackson have also quit. Braid, officially Trump’s director of legislative affairs, has been a vital conduit between the president and a narrow majority in both chambers. Indeed, Braid, who also served in Trump’s rollercoaster first term, played a key role in pushing through the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, Trump’s signature legislative achievement. Braid’s next move remains unknown. His exit follows a string of departures that have stymied the wider operation. Perhaps the biggest of those is Leavitt, who announced earlier this month that she is leaving the administration to focus on her young family. Leavitt, who turns 29 next week, announced the move after a period of maternity leave following the birth of her second child, Viviana, in May. “Our wonderful White House Press Secretary, and one of my most trusted aides, Karoline Leavitt, will be departing her role at the end of the month so she can spend more time with her beautiful young children and family, a decision I totally understand and respect!” Trump reacted on Truth Social. The president added that Leavitt would remain one of his “top outside advisors, and an influential voice within the Republican Party.” Leavitt has been the face of the administration, jostling with the press and hammering home Trump’s message. One of his lesser-spotted enforcers, deputy chief of staff James Blair, has temporarily departed the White House to oversee the president’s “entire political operation from the outside as well as midterm spending.” Brash comms whizz Tricia McLaughlin was an early casualty. The Department of Homeland Security spokeswoman, who is in her early thirties, left in February last year after carving out a niche as one of the administration’s most vocal defenders of its aggressive, often deadly, immigration crackdown. Former Attorney General Pam Bondi, former Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and former Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer are all out, too. Noem’s firing in March meant that Corey Lewandowski, her senior adviser and rumored lover, got the boot, too. Joe Kent was appointed as Director of the National Counterterrorism Center when Trump took office. He resigned in protest of the Iran war on March 17. The war is proving divisive in the upper echelons of government, so losing Braid could hurt Trump even more. The conflict, launched by Trump alongside Israel in February without congressional approval, is also deeply unpopular with the public. In fact, the 80-year-old’s approval rating has hit a nadir, a measly 33 percent, because of the war, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll that concluded on Monday. Americans are worried that the war is growing more and more attritional and the quick-in-and-out job promised by Trump is a fallacy. A huge 64 percent of respondents said they don’t have faith in the president. This new low ties the lowest level of his first term, reached in December 2017. The White House has been approached for comment on Braid’s reported departure. https://www.thedailybeast.com/trumps-white-house-exodus-spirals-with-major-departure-of-james-braid/? ps:The only question I have is this: Is it any different than when others have left the Biden, Obama, Bush 2, Clinton, Bush 1, Reagan White houses? Trump turns to ‘economic warfare’ President Trump announced on social media Wednesday what he described as a “crushing economic operation” against Iran, threatening “economic warfare and isolation on an unprecedented scale.” He offered few details about what the operation would involve but warned of economic consequences for any country whose financial institutions, businesses, airports or government entities provide “any type of lifeline to Iran.” Despite ramping up the pressure, Trump also said Wednesday that the situation with Iran is “so good” right now — days after halting all US talks with Tehran. ps:As I've said many times, he talks out of both sides of his mouth!!!!! + Analysis: Trump has a new plan to crush Iran’s economy. The president and his many side projects President Trump signs a stone for his new helipad on Wednesday. (Jim Watson/AFP/Getty Images) Amid a war with Iran and a record national debt, President Donald Trump made time Wednesday to unveil his latest White House construction projects, taking reporters on an impromptu South Lawn tour of a redone driveway and new helipad. Trump said the driveway’s old asphalt was replaced with California-mined white granite, which he called a “very special stone.” The tour skipped Trump’s signature 90,000-square-foot ballroom, which court documents show is at least 65% complete. But the project remains tied up in a legal fight that his administration has taken to the Supreme Court, arguing the structure and state-of-the-art bunker planned beneath it are matters of national security. Recently, he has tried to emphasize that argument by calling the ballroom the “military complex.” Trump’s renovation list at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue is much longer, but it tells a bigger story: His focus on construction — at such a consequential moment for the nation — reflects how much he sees reshaping the White House as part of his legacy. His taste for spectacle is just as apparent, as we saw with the UFC fight on White House grounds in June. Next up is a Trump-backed IndyCar race roaring through the capital this weekend. + Read more: Trump showcases White House construction + Video: Washington, DC, prepares for its first ever IndyCar race -

How banned goods are smuggled into Gaza The smuggling of goods restricted by Israel into the Gaza Strip has boomed and become vital to Gaza’s economy, according to an Associated Press investigation based on court documents and interviews with traders, truckers and officials. Read more. Why this matters: Smuggling rings — which have long flourished, circumventing two decades of Israeli blockades — pull in millions of dollars. Cigarettes and tobacco rake in the biggest profits for smugglers and merchants, officials and residents say. But everything from iPhones and solar panels to fuel and anesthetics are also brought in illegally. AP found a rush from all sides to profit. Payoffs go to Israeli troops, drivers, warehouse workers and others on both sides of the border, according to traders and court documents. The Israeli military said via email that it takes the issue of smuggling “very seriously and works to prevent it.” RELATED COVERAGE ➤ WATCH: Palestinian American says he is unable to freely leave besieged West Bank home Israeli military launches criminal probes into killings of Hind Rajab and Palestinian paramedics Israel’s deadly Gaza strikes cast doubt on ceasefire progress days after Kushner visit Other major developments in the Middle East

The National Debt

US national debt hits $40 trillion The unprecedented milestone figure was recorded as defense costs, social programs like Social Security and Medicare and interest on the burgeoning deficit make up an enormous share of federal spending. Read more. Why this matters: Experts say the exploding debt is already affecting Americans by raising borrowing costs for things like mortgages and cars. Advocates for a balanced budget also warn that the long-term trend of borrowing more and paying more in interest will force Americans to face tougher fiscal tradeoffs ahead. ps:Not sure why they keeping adding SS to this? Because SS is something that people work and pay into!! I can understand the other things like the interest they have to pay for borrowing from other countries, etc.!! -

Fastest Star Discovered Astronomers have discovered the fastest known star in the Milky Way, new research published yesterday reveals. Its proximity to the galaxy’s central black hole could offer scientists a way to directly measure the spin of the supermassive cosmic entity for the first time and test Albert Einstein’s theory of relativity. Star S301 travels at speeds up to approximately 56 million mph, 100,000 times faster than a commercial plane. It follows a tight, lopsided orbit that places S301 roughly as close to black hole Sagittarius A* as Saturn is to the sun (scroll through a scaled solar system). Researchers believe Sagittarius A*’s spin slightly alters the star’s orbit each time it passes the black hole every 8.7 years. Observing S301’s position over the next decade may unlock unprecedented insight into the black hole’s rotation and its impact on the galaxy’s evolution. Learn how scientists have tested Einstein's theory of gravity and how it explains black holes and stellar orbits here.

Drought-stricken Rivers

Reservoir Remains Suspected human remains were discovered this week in Lake Mead, Nevada, the US National Park Service has revealed. The finding comes as the US’ largest reservoir experiences record-low water levels, conditions that may help unearth skeletal remains. Authorities were still investigating the finding as of this writing, including the possible identity of the deceased. A decadeslong drought has caused water levels at the lake to fall to a record 1,039 feet above sea level—nearly a foot below the last record set in 2022, when four bodies were discovered. Those men disappeared or were killed between 1974 and 2002, including periods when water levels were 20 to 30 feet higher. The lake is about 30 miles from the Las Vegas Strip, where mob violence may explain some killings. As water levels recede, they are also exposing ghost towns like St. Thomas. Lake Mead began filling in 1935 with the creation of the Hoover Dam. See history here (scroll and swipe for before-and-after pictures). -

Novel Cancer Vaccine A personalized mRNA vaccine helps prevent skin cancer from returning or spreading, drugmakers Moderna and Merck said yesterday. The result marks the first positive late-stage trial for an mRNA cancer therapy, an approach scientists have been developing for decades (w/audio). Researchers sequenced tumors from patients with melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer. They then encoded the genetic instructions for those mutations into molecular messengers called mRNA and used them to manufacture bespoke vaccines—a process that took about six weeks. These vaccines train the immune system to recognize and attack cancer cells. The drugmakers have yet to release the full late-stage trial data, but an earlier trial found that pairing the vaccine with immunotherapy nearly halved the risk of recurrence or death after five years, compared with immunotherapy alone. Similar vaccines are being tested for breast, lung, kidney, and other cancers. mRNA was first discovered in the 1960s, but the first mRNA vaccine didn't come to market until the COVID-19 pandemic. Explore the obstacles here. A promising cancer vaccine A new experimental vaccine succeeded in a large trial for the deadly skin cancer melanoma, potentially opening up a new way of treating the disease. The study is ongoing, but interim results found that the treatment, intismeran, reduced the risk of melanoma recurrence or death by 49% after five years. The drug is being developed by Moderna and Merck, which also makes Keytruda. Moderna CEO Stéphane Bancel called the results “as big a day for humanity as Nov. 16, 2020,” when the company released late-stage trial results showing its Covid-19 vaccine worked. “This is a new chapter in cancer care,” he told CNN. Moderna said it and Merck plan to seek regulatory approval within months. + Read more: What to know about the melanoma vaccine trial + Video: MRNA vaccine for skin cancer shows promise + Plus: How much of a cancer drug is too much? That left me w ith a permant scar on lmy retna and distorted vlision in that eye. Part2: I have develped Age related Macular degeneration (ARMD) in both eyes and Geographlic Atrofly (GA) (A new name for an old diease). On a regular basis I recieve injections into mly eyes. Its been one year since we have had a TRULY HISTORIC change in leadership in the Adventist church. I thought it would be good to reflect upon changes that have taken place. You may not realize it but we have a new website. It has many new pictures of the GC building, witch I find fascinating. As someone who has never been there, and likely never will go there, this is very interesting to me. I can now see and enjoy the building. Old website : https://web.archive.org/web/20250302060246/https://www.adventist.org/ New website: https://gc.adventist.org/ It is still a WordPress website, but the content has completely changed. It looks like every page has changed and many new pages added. It is very well done. It clearly reflects the new leadership. It's purpose has changed from a boring institutional statement to a living document meant to clearly inform the members of the church what the vision is and how it is being carried out. The level of transparency is boldly refreshing.
