	The photo does not do justice to the vibrancy of the medium. The flower is quite orange. Done with Derwent Inktense both pencils and blocks on Fabriano 140 lb cold-pressed watercolour paper.

<p>
	Bob Ross called mistakes happy accidents...  This is unfinished and I have gone farther but the mistake here was that the masking fluid that I used on 3 of the cherries refused to lift off after the paint was dried.
</p>

<p>
	So, instead of bright, white areas I ended up with greyish lumpy spots. My fix is to use a textured fixative on top and then covering with white.
</p>

<p>
	I have since bought a different jar of frisket. LynnDel, remember that this happened with one of those masking fluid pens that are German-made. I like the idea but for some reason it didn't work properly.

<p>
	Here is another reason that inspired me to change medium. When the colouring craze began I did one picture to display in the store to help sell colouring books. I found, though, after a few pages like this I felt limited by heavy black lines. So I decided to transfer photos to paper and colour that way. A good drawing is the basis to a good painting...
</p>

<p>
	I did discover that many GOOD painters DO use reference photos, although there is some debate.
</p>

<p>
	So that's the story.

	An interesting little macro. I was a bit frustrated with the yellow stems as in real life they have an almost iridescent quality. My tools (or the technique) wasn't really doing what I intended

<p>
	I did this a few years ago in watercolour. I kinda like it! There is a movie with Antonio Banderas about the discovery of Altamira which is very good. When I was watching the movie I dug up this picture. At first I thought I had used a photo of Lascaux (?) the French cave but then decided I did use one from Altamira.
