Dr. Shane
Perhaps one should think about putting such silliness in the humor forum where everyone will know it is just a joke. Amelia
Political cartoons are, by their nature, playing on world affairs. Dr. Shane
Some may believe it to be inflamatory and emotionally charged. And then others just like to push buttons. Hmmmm, WWJD? Dr. Shane
Wasn't He? I mean, "holier than thou?" Wheww, He sure put those money-changers and Pharisees in their place. But I digress OK, just remember who is going the extra mile to get along with others. Let's remember who is taking the high road. I mean, either we want to have a friendly forum or we want to keep pushing each others buttons like before. Is there any other choices? Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Moderators Bravus Posted July 27, 2005 Moderators Share Posted July 27, 2005 Shane, I appreciate your attempts to work toward a more civil standard of discourse in this forum - it's an important thing and you're showing the way. But then using that as a tool to enforce your own personal dislike for political cartoons (something that everyone else on whatever side seems pretty comfortable with) is turning something good into a way of shutting down the conversation. I'm happy to put up with lots of 'Bush hate' posts to keep the right for relevant political cartoons to be posted (and posted in the relevant forums). And this thread *was* clearly labelled as to its contents... Quote Truth is important

Neil D
Quote: Amelia said: Shane, I applaud you. That's one of the best ways to respond! Point and counter point...that is dialogue...that is good... But is reducing those same points to some rerunned phraze-o-logy that has no value to the recipient "communication"? Is it dialogue or positioning oneself to champion a political cause? Who know? Moderators Jeannieb43 Posted July 28, 2005 Moderators Share Posted July 28, 2005 Communication involves both sending and receiving a thought. If we're sending, we can't control the receiving end of the equation. But we can phrase it in such a way as to be most easily understood by the receiver. If we're doing the receiving... well, that sometimes involves more work on our part because we need to scope out the sender's frame of reference first, before trying to understand what was being sent.
