Yeah, I don't know if that would be a good thing or a bad thing in my case, but I'm sure those scribes would have worded things in a way that kept their heads.

I'm sure it must have bothered him. If we were to use your example of parallel to our time, I'm sure many of us will be in the same shoes. We will feel the "pull of the angel" on us, we know what is coming, yet it will hurt to leave loved ones behind.

Perhaps this is the time that Jesus referred to when he said that he that loves his brother or his father or his mother more than Him is not worthy of Him. IOW- He will leave us have what we choose. Just like Lot's wife.
