Members rudywoofs (Pam)
Lots of people have trouble falling asleep at night. Lunesta is one of the newer sleep meds. Take a look at how well it works: Lunesta Quote Pam Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. Members rudywoofs (Pam)
Actually, this is one sleep med that I have tried. Works pretty well for me, especially if I'm sleeping outside by a campfire.. Quote Pam Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. Planey
Actually I'm looking for an effective sleep inducer/facilitator, but unfortunately I'm also a little woosie boy... Clio
When I cannot sleep, I resort to prayer. I've had several people tell me it's a sin to fall asleep during prayer, but it is soo effective. I view it as a bit of pillowtalk with my Beloved, before sleep. I tell Him about my day, and talk to Him about my concerns. And often, I will just drift off to sleep. Psalms 4:8 I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety. It's a rare night indeed that such does not suffice to send me peacefully off to sleep. My husband takes trazodone. Quote A heart where He alone has first place.
Amelia
Personally I like my Ambien. One of the sleep aids, can't remember which one, causes a high % of sleepwalking as a side effect. Question: Would you still have a restful sleep even if you are up walking about? puddles
After my grandmother died, I had trouble sleeping and found Simply Sleep. When my father died, again, I had (and still do sometimes) have trouble sleeping. Again, I used simply sleep. What I didn't like was feeling so drug out the next day. That is when I recalled my father telling me that as folks get older, their melatonin (sp?) levels decrease so I purchased a bottle of melatonin and since starting to take it before bedtime, have been able to drop off to sleep. I've even begun dreaming again and I couldn't tell you how long I'd gone w/o dreaming. I read something ages ago that said something to the effect that if you were dreaming, you were getting REM sleep. :duno I dunno if this is accurate or not tho. Oh and another thing, when I get up in the morning, I'm awake, not dopey. Just my 2 cents worth... :otb Nite folks!!!
Members rudywoofs (Pam)
I tried melatonin a couple times, but it produced a strange paradoxical effect - it kept me awake all night. Just goes to show that everyone is different, and can have varying reactions to just about anything you put into your system. re: sleepwalking... an RN friend of mine was working nightshift, so she'd come home and sleep during the day. What she didn't realize was that she was up and about doing housework, answering the phone and doorbell. The day she discovered this, she woke up and was sitting on her sofa across from a very youngish-looking vacuum cleaner salesman who was clearly discomfited about something. She looked down and saw she was wearing a skimpy tank top and men's boxer shorts, and she was leaning with both elbows on her knees. She said she screamed, then the vacuum cleaner guy screamed, grabbed his vacuum, and last she saw he was running down the street! Moral of the story: Be careful if you think you might walk in your sleep during the day!!!!! :otb Quote Pam Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. Administrators Gail Posted May 19, 2007 Administrators Share Posted May 19, 2007 I try a change of scenery- and go sleep on the couch. I find that when I read my Bible first, that will last for about an hour or so and then I'll get very, very sleepy. Satan doesn't like me to read the Bible, I guess, so he lets go of whatever it is he's bothering me with and I fall asleep. If I perchance have a coffee I will NOT sleep. I drink it so seldom and usually when I have a migraine. So when it comes to choosing between the migraine and not sleeping I'll choose a late night. Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.

Jerry Rogers
My best remedy for falling asleep? Finding a boring, technical book on a subject that I don't care much about. I can start putting out ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ's real quick like. :-) Quote Nobody cares how much you know until they know how much you care.
Members rudywoofs (Pam)
LOL yes...I agree a boring book can do wonders. One that gets to me is The Brothers Karamazov, the last novel by the Russian author Fyodor Dostoevsky. By the time I try and puzzle out the pronunciation of: Fyodor Pavlovich Karamazov Dmitri Fyodorovich Karamazov Ivan Fyodorovich Karamazov Alexei Fyodorovich Karamazov Pavel Fyodorovich 'Smerdyakov' Agrafena Alexandrovna Svetlova Katerina Ivanovna Verkhovtseva Zosima, the elder, and Ilyusha I rarely get past the first 2 or 3 names before I'm zonked. The book is soporific. Quote Pam Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. If we all sang the same note in the choir, there'd never be any harmony.
