Members rudywoofs (Pam)
Neil, here's some Calvin and Hobbs avatars...don't see yours, but maybe one of these will work: Quote Pam Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. If we all sang the same note in the choir, there'd never be any harmony. Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others? Neil D
Neil, here's some Calvin and Hobbs avatars...don't see yours, but maybe one of these will work: This has promise.....Wish it was color.... Others might think that Tom and I are making a dance everytime we enter a thread... Not sure that I want this one.....too...cuddly...cute...I am NOT cute in that way.... I don't know about this one...it has appeal... but everyone might feel that I am kicking them in the ...well, gluteous maximus.... Too deviant....it's appealing though...not sure the girls of the board would appreciate it though... I am afraid that everyone will think that Tom and I were conspiring together..... Now this one, ...Tom might appreciate this one....And it says that I don't care what YOU have to say....Better not... I love these...but they don't have that right quality....appreciate the gesture though.... Quote Democracy is a device that ensures we shall be governed no better than we deserve. Neil D
Perhaps I can get this put in for my Avatar? Still, I miss my exasperated Calvin.... Of course, I could use this with some of the things said around here..... Then, when ever I mess with Redwood and David, I could use this one.....Can't use it with Planey, though..... Administrators Tom Wetmore Posted January 12, 2008 Administrators Share Posted January 12, 2008 Perhaps a fitting, if not oddly bizarre, Hobbesian twist to this whole topic - Neil as the 16th Century French Reformation theologian... Truthful bit of trivia - Bill Watterson, creator of Calvin and Hobbes, did in fact name the pair after John Calvin and Thomas Hobbes, the 17th Century English political philosopher. Just when it appeared--or so it APPEARED--that we were seeing a different Neil--a kinder, gentler Neil. A Neil who the ladies would appreciate because he was--WAS so thoughtful and considerate. A Neil who had learned--albeit perhaps in the hard school of life--to be more compliant, to be teachable. But now, the truth comes out--or should I say, mebbe Ol' Neil done backslid. Back to his old ways. Out with the new, in with the old. Ahhh, so. But its still not too late. There is hope, even yet . . .

David Koot
Did you say Calvinist?Maybe this should be his avatar. hehehe Indeed? The well-heeled, elitist, CONSERVATIVE, rule-making and enforcing CALVIN as the avatar for the NEW Neil? Now that would be the greatest upheaval in the history of this forum, at the very least. But who knows? Maybe--just MAYBE . . .
David Koot
I should like to point out that the elitist, Conservative Calvin--the 'new Neil'; and the author of 'Leviathan,' Hobbes (certainly not an advocate of the 'Rights of Man' or by any means a 'Latitudinarian') would, indeed, seem to make a pair. I am however not a little surprised that our good friend Neil would so like to be identified with the conservative CALVIN!!!! Dave

David Koot
Hey Neil! Whatcha doin', picking on my friend Redwood? Let's see that kindler, gentler Neil that was around here for awhile. I can see that we need to retire Calvin again and bring back Elmo. The change was noticeable. Besides, Calvin WAS an arch-conservative conformity-enforcer. Not a fitting icon for Neil. Elmo is much more appropriate and a good influence.
