Woody
Chuck Norris is undefeatable!!!! Well .... they do say he is a hunk. But Huck is in to stay especially if he does fair in California. Since California is not a winner take all state ... if he can just pick up a few delegates I think he will do well. Moderators Bravus Posted February 6, 2008 Moderators Share Posted February 6, 2008 When it comes to a guy called McCain Some must hope that the voters refrain Though we know that a brave man he is The one fear we still harbor is this: That our freedom to pray he'd restrain But Giuliani's more scary to me Though I don't even have a TV His whole schtick is 'I'm tough' But that's just not enough To win an endorsement from me While a woman for Pres would be grand With Ms Clinton I just cannot stand Though she wears a blue scarf on her head On policy she's still a bit red To be trusted to run a great land Quote Truth is important

Dr. Shane
Well, things as of now are looking good for the Republicans in November. McCain seems to be the most winnable on the Republican side as he attracts moderates and independents. Some Republicans may worry that conservatives will sit at home and not vote if McCain is the nominee. But if he is running against Hillary that is not likely to happen. In my opinion, a McCain v. Hillary race is the Republicans' best chance to keep the White House. An Obama v. Huckabee would be the Democrats' best chance at winning it. Well, that is my opinion. Moderators Bravus Posted February 6, 2008 Moderators Share Posted February 6, 2008 I agree with that analysis, Shane. I think, barring any major accidents, Obama could take McCain too, because a lot of Republicans seem to dislike McCain, but Obama wouldn't draw out the anti-Hillary vote. I *really* hope Obama gets the nomination, but there are miles to go yet, and I have to admit that on the balance of probabilities it looks more as though Hillary will. Dr. Shane
If it is Obama v. McCain I think we are in for a real horse race. Here are the results by states for tonight. I don't expect to see any reliable delegate counts until tomorrow. CLINTON: AR, AZ, CA, MA, NY, NJ, OK, TN OBAMA: AL, CT, CO, DE, GA, ID, IL, KS, MN, MO, ND, UT HUCKABEE: AL, AR, GA, TN, WV MCCAIN: AZ, CA, CT, DE, IL, MO, NJ, NY, OK ROMNEY: CO, MA, MN, MT, ND, UT Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Moderators lazarus Posted February 7, 2008 Moderators Share Posted February 7, 2008 I still think Clinton will get the nomination despite her stumbles in recent months, partly beccause of the hispanic vote which is leaning heavily towards Clinton. So if Clinton wins she will come under lot of pressure to pick Obama for VP I think it will be a landslide if its Clinton/Obama ticket. I actually think the GOP would rather run against Obama. Despite her negatives the democratic party will rally behind her and there will be incredible excitement about the 1st woman president, don't underestimate that the power of that idea. GOP surrogates have been speaking in favorable terms about Obama which is telling. The Hannity/Limbaugh/Coulter wing HATES McCain for all kinds of reason. If you listen to right wing talk at the moment they seem to have more distain for Mc than Clinton. Its fascinating stuff. Quote Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocrities. Moderators lazarus Posted February 7, 2008 Moderators Share Posted February 7, 2008 Rush Limbaugh declared that a McCain triumph would "destroy the party." James Dobson, leader of Focus on the Family, said that he will not vote for McCain under any circumstances. Ann Coulter allowed as to how she would rather vote for Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton than for McCain. Former and current Republican congressional colleagues joined in the attacks. Former House speaker J. Dennis Hastert cited what he termed McCain's lack of party loyalty by labeling him an "undependable vote," and Sen. Thad Cochran (Miss.) raised questions about his temperament for the Oval Office. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/02/06/AR2008020604769_pf.html Quote Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocrities. Dr. Shane
Many conservative Republicans would rather see a Democrat win than see McCain become President. That would allow them to run someone they want in 2012. It would also help them gain control in Congress. The opposing party of the President normally wins more seats in Congress (i.e. 1994, 2006). As far as talk radio goes... well a Democrat in the White House will give them more material and better ratings. Rush Limbaugh has been on the air since 1988 but before Clinton was elected President, few had ever heard his name. I don't see any landslide victory for anyone unless conservatives sit home. The last two Presidential elections have been razor-thin close. The country is extremely divided. Idealouges like Micheal Moore and Rush Limbaugh have a lot to do with that and are not going away. I will be very surprised if either candidate wins by more than 10% and highly suspect it will be less than 5%. Reagan won by 18% in 1984 and Nixon won by 22% in 1972. We are not going to see anything close to a landslide victory like that for anyone this year. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... But the "swift boat veterans" (accusing Kerry of lying) were proven to be a totally sham outfit put together for the sole purpose of obtaining Kerry's defeat. And that type of dirty tricks will be sure to show up again as we get closer and closer to the general election. Quote Jeannie

...Change is inevitable; growth is optional....
