David Koot
She dumped me. I was too much of a philistine for her tastes, back then. I remember that she didn't believe in even holding hands until after the engagement, and I'm afraid I was your regular red-blooded American male. Scared the poor girl off, I fear. David Koot
Thanks, Redwood. It was very painful. I had just come out of a worldly lifestyle, and was rebaptized. It all seemed so right. When she broke it off, I felt devastated and even suicidal. It was such a disappointment. But God was faithful, and He did not abandon me, thank the Lord! I was--and still am a work in progress. olger
"An Egotistical and Intolerant Husband.--You expect too much of your wife and children. You censure too much. If you would encourage a cheerful, happy temper yourself and speak kindly and tenderly to them, you would bring sunlight into your dwelling instead of clouds, sorrow, and unhappiness. You think too much of your opinion; you have taken extreme positions, and have not been willing that your wife's judgment should have the weight it should in your family. You have not encouraged respect for your wife yourself nor educated your children to respect her judgment. You have not made her your equal, but have rather taken the reins of government and control into your own hands and held them with a firm grasp. You have not an affectionate, sympathetic disposition. These traits of character you need to cultivate if you want to be an overcomer and if you want the blessing of God in your family." Quote "Please don't feed the drama queens.." Quote: The Philistines offered gold rats as an offering. 1 Sam.6:18 Maybe if you had searched the scripture more diligently you could have followed this advice. David Koot
One never knows! Although she did not approve of gold. Might have got an interesting reaction offering her five rats, though. I have a friend who LOVES rats, and has had many pet rats. I suggested that some time he bring a few of the babies, tie a pink bow around their necks and give them to the ladies at church as friendship gifts. So far, he hasn't followed through. Andrew
Some info. What was the only thing made in the beginning from living flesh? Who teaches children from birth to school? Who carried the living God for nine monthes? Who trained the prophets? Ellen G. White. Mother Terresa. Your Mother, my Mother.

LifeHiscost
society on the whole has made them feel it is "servitude." Not true!!!!! I agreed with all of your post, Nightingale, and would like to add as one who has suffered under a revelation of God's counsel, a couple of things brought to my attention by a professinal counselor. His summation about parental care for the children was that, after careful statistical examination it was found that parents could be severe or gentle in their discipline, but the children that went on to be successful adults were those who came from families where the parents agreed together upon the discipline. It seems if this is true for the benefit of the children, would it not also be true for the happiness and wellbeing of each parent. It might perhaps be considered offtopic, however since it seems obvious very few if any individuals always agree as to the how to find common ground, if one is ocasionally willing to put aside their ego, life will continue on with the minimum amount of irritation. "Treat others the same way you want them to treat you." Luke 6:31 NASB Regards! Quote Lift Jesus up!!
