Woody
According to Fox News .... The prostitute of the NY governor became an instant Millionaire due to her recent fame from being on the news. She had a website where she tried to sell some music she put together. It just got over a million hits at .95 cents a pop. She also is getting over $100,000 per interview and there are many organizations who want her. Does this disturb any one? The Governor got big trouble and is looked down on. But the prostitute is glorified and honored and showered with attention and money. What does this say about US and what does it say about Ashley Dupre? Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Moderators John317 Posted March 14, 2008 Moderators Share Posted March 14, 2008 It doesn't surprise me in the least, but it does bother me a lot because of what it says about our society and what influence this has to have especially on the young people. It's downright hypocritical of us as a society and shows how many businesses are willing to do anything for the almighty dollar. What's that but a type of prostitution? This is the kind of thing that makes fundamentalist Muslims think of America and the West as immoral and corrupt, and since Christianity is the main religion here, they associate Christianity with these things, unfortunately. I think Christians need to speak out against it more, just like say Muslims need to speak out against violence committed by Muslims. Quote John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
Moderators Bravus Posted March 14, 2008 Moderators Share Posted March 14, 2008 Not saying either situation is right, but isn't it just an inversion of the old way of doing things, where the prostitute got a scarlet letter or worse and the pillar of the community got to just go on with his life? Exactly what I was thinking! Pendulums always swing in the opposing direction before settling. Out of curiosity, does the woman have any talent as a singer? Perhaps this is the very thing she needed to get her out of the business of prostitution. In my opinion, that's not necessarily a bad thing! If they try to put her in prison she will need that money to defend herself. Since she has money she will not be an easy target for the prosecution now.
