Sheila Jackson Lee booed at Democratic convention

Raw video of Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee's speech at a local Democratic senatorial district convention in Houston Saturday in which she was booed by the crowd, many of whom are in her district. Her speech was interrupted a couple of times as the crowd voiced its displeasure with her backing Hillary Clinton over Barack Obama.

I'm not surprised. Obama is popular in most parts of the black community here, even at church.

This is almost humorous. How any Adventist could support Mrs. Clinton is beyond me, but to each their own.

Ben Stein for president.

This is interesting about Hillary:

"Raised in a politically conservative household, at age thirteen she helped canvass South Side Chicago following the very close 1960 U.S. presidential election, finding evidence of electoral fraud against Republican candidate Richard Nixon, and volunteered for Republican candidate Barry Goldwater in the U.S. presidential election of 1964. Her early political development was shaped most strongly by her energizing high school history teacher, who got her to read Goldwater's classic The Conscience of a Conservative and who was, like her father, a fervent anti-communist."

How people do alter.

John 3:16-17

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

I'm personally the same way. I walked the precincts getting out the votes and attended support rallies for Barry Goldwater in '64. I was a dyed-in-the-wool Republican (lifetime, actually).

But now my party has left me. No longer can I support what the radicals are doing to the Repub party.

This will be my fifth presidential election to vote Democratic. Regardless of who the Dem candidate is.

Well, we certainly have a lot in common then. My father took me to see Barry Goldwater when I was a kid, and I ended up seeing Ronald Reagan introduce him with a better speech than Goldwater gave. Then I held a Goldwater sign I made at an appearance of Lyndon Johnson, only about 15 feet from the President (boy was he ever tipsy!).

Later, during my early 20s, I joined the Socialist Workers Party after being "radicalized" by the anti-war movement.

But I became a Seventh-day Adventist and therefore I could no longer remain a Trotskiest.

You'll probably find, across the world, that most SDA's find it hard to believe someone could support George Bush.

Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocrities. The latter cannot understand it when a man does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices but honestly and courageously uses his intelligence.

Hi laz:

I remind you that George Bush looked attractive after the 8-year Dark Ages of the Clintons. That drew many people to him (I didn't vote in 2000).

As to the war, I wonder what we are getting out of it. It would be nice to see some tangible benefit - like cheaper crude oil for one..

Somebody needs to tear up the Government's credit cards.

regards,

After the world has seen the Pastor of Obama ... they for sure would not understand how anyone let alone an SDA ... could vote for Obama.

Dark ages?? Clinton was one of the best presidents in recent memory. He balanced the budget, thinned out government spending so ended up with a huge surplus in the treasury, traveled widely and became friends on first-name basis with all the other world leaders, and had a magnetic personality. His one weak spot was blown out of all proportion by the gutter politics of the Republicans. JFK, FDR, Nelson Rockefeller, and even Ike had had much worse extramarital affairs yet were beloved and protected by the press and the world in their day.

I blame my own party, the Republicans, for the low stature of American politics today. And to think they claim to have leadership by men of the cloth!

It all bears out what we've learned from Bible prophecy. This world will soon self-destruct. Our "Rock" is Jesus. We can depend on Him.
