Obama is popular in most parts of the black community here, even at church. DB Quote I prayed for twenty years but received no answer until I prayed with my legs. Moderators John317 Posted March 31, 2008 Moderators Share Posted March 31, 2008 This is interesting about Hillary: "Raised in a politically conservative household, at age thirteen she helped canvass South Side Chicago following the very close 1960 U.S. presidential election, finding evidence of electoral fraud against Republican candidate Richard Nixon, and volunteered for Republican candidate Barry Goldwater in the U.S. presidential election of 1964. Her early political development was shaped most strongly by her energizing high school history teacher, who got her to read Goldwater's classic The Conscience of a Conservative and who was, like her father, a fervent anti-communist." How people do alter. Quote John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. I was a dyed-in-the-wool Republican (lifetime, actually). But now my party has left me. No longer can I support what the radicals are doing to the Repub party. This will be my fifth presidential election to vote Democratic. Regardless of who the Dem candidate is. Quote Jeannie

...Change is inevitable; growth is optional.... This will be my fifth presidential election to vote Democratic. Regardless of who the Dem candidate is. Well, we certainly have a lot in common then. My father took me to see Barry Goldwater when I was a kid, and I ended up seeing Ronald Reagan introduce him with a better speech than Goldwater gave. Then I held a Goldwater sign I made at an appearance of Lyndon Johnson, only about 15 feet from the President (boy was he ever tipsy!). Later, during my early 20s, I joined the Socialist Workers Party after being "radicalized" by the anti-war movement. But I became a Seventh-day Adventist and therefore I could no longer remain a Trotskiest. olger
Hi laz: I remind you that George Bush looked attractive after the 8-year Dark Ages of the Clintons. That drew many people to him (I didn't vote in 2000). As to the war, I wonder what we are getting out of it. It would be nice to see some tangible benefit - like cheaper crude oil for one.. Moderators Jeannieb43 Posted April 7, 2008 Moderators Share Posted April 7, 2008 I remind you that George Bush looked attractive after the 8-year Dark Ages of the Clintons. oG Dark ages?? Clinton was one of the best presidents in recent memory. He balanced the budget, thinned out government spending so ended up with a huge surplus in the treasury, traveled widely and became friends on first-name basis with all the other world leaders, and had a magnetic personality. His one weak spot was blown out of all proportion by the gutter politics of the Republicans. JFK, FDR, Nelson Rockefeller, and even Ike had had much worse extramarital affairs yet were beloved and protected by the press and the world in their day. I blame my own party, the Republicans, for the low stature of American politics today. And to think they claim to have leadership by men of the cloth! It all bears out what we've learned from Bible prophecy. This world will soon self-destruct. Our "Rock" is Jesus. We can depend on Him.
