What would you do….

If you were told by doctors that you only have between 2 and 12 months to live?

Through the centuries, this question has been asked may times, many ways. This is the first time that someone who I personally know and love is facing this real life drama.

Without health insurance, seeking medical treatment would eliminate his entire estate, leaving his wife and children with no financial resources. Recovery from this type of cancer, in its present stage would be about 30%. He has elected to live whatever time he has with only pain medication, as needed, and an occasional transfusion.

My cousin, his wife and two sisters spent the day with me yesterday. For me, it was surreal as we visited the ‘family’ cemetery looking at ‘his’ resting place and visiting markers of many who are now sleeping. Displaying his lifelong sense of humor, his sister said, “I just can’t believe you’ll soon be there” he laughed and responded, “Would if be easier to believe if I lay down there so you can get a visual?” His humor escaped her!

As we visited various locations where our family settled this area, the homes they constructed, shops, farms, etc. He took a lot of pictures and recorded lots of ‘interviews’ so his children will have a record of their family history.

This 58 year old man is not asking for sympathy, prayers, a miracle healing, or special attention. He is only seeking the opportunity to leave constructive ‘footprints’ for his children and grandchildren. Conversation at diner last evening was about the final arrangements. Acknowledging that death is a part of life, that is the pattern of nature.

Later, reliving the day, I asked myself if I could face having a death sentence with an approximate date with the grace and courage which Jim and his family are exhibiting.

How would you cope if reality hit you smack-dab in your face?

I am reminded of a funeral in Romania in which I spoke, at the entrance of the SDA Cemetery was a huge marker. The message was written in English. It read, “Be Yea Also Ready”

If your dreams are not big enough to scare you, they are not big enough for God

Sounds like Jim would be perfect for making a docmentary of his last days/months. His humor of laying down on the plot is priceless. A person facing this same outcome can do many different things. Some bemoaning their lot all the time. Some just sit and waste away all the faster. Some do all they can to stretch out that time frame. But Jim is going at it in a manner I hope I can when my time comes. Being at ease with the verdict. Getting things done so the end wont cause chaos and strife.

One of the first things: I would get rid of all my stuff so my family wouldn't have to do it for me.

Unless God has given the death sentence, there are options that are neither as drastic for the remedy of cancer as the modern medical establishment has implied, nor is cancer as final as they would have you believe.

I would be glad to refer a particular natural therapy that is not only less expensive than modern mainstream therapy, but does not cut, burn, or poisen in order to give the desired results. Plus, if you can afford less than $1000 for the benefits of a cure, you will find if it is as good as promised within 60-90 days.

Of course, with the effort, my own trust in God is first on the list of things needed to expect positive results.

God's grace and mercy is wished, whatever the decision for therapy exercised.

Regards! peace

Lift Jesus up!!
