Amelia
Comedian George Carlin dies at 71 Anti-establishment icon gained fame with his ‘Seven Dirty Words’ routine AP SANTA MONICA, Calif. - George Carlin, the frenzied performer whose routine “Seven Words You Can Never Say On Television” led to a key Supreme Court ruling on obscenity, has died. Carlin, who had a history of heart trouble, went into St. John’s Health Center in Santa Monica on Sunday afternoon complaining of chest pain and died later that evening, said his publicist, Jeff Abraham. He had performed as recently as last weekend at the Orleans Casino and Hotel in Las Vegas. He was 71. “He was a genius and I will miss him dearly,” Jack Burns, who was the other half of a comedy duo with Carlin in the early 1960s, told The Associated Press. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/25322638/ Quote
"Do not use harmful words, but only helpful words, the kind that build up and provide what is needed, so that what you say will do good to those who hear you." Eph 4:29

Fairview Or

Moderators Jeannieb43 Posted June 23, 2008 Moderators Share Posted June 23, 2008 I just watched a 5-min. video of his stand-up routine, Baseball vs. Football. [found it on Google, from some Chicago outlet] It's hilarious. Not a single dirty word in it. I can't believe how he memorizes all those words and says them all so fast. He's an intelligent comic. [i posted this once but can't find it now. Really; there's not a single dirty word on that video.] Quote Jeannie

...Change is inevitable; growth is optional.... Members phkrause
He was one of my favorite comic's ever. But its always interesting how these comedian's think that they have to use bad language, when they are just as funny without. pkrause Quote phkrause Obstinacy is a barrier to all improvement. - ChL
Parade Orange
His G rated stuff was belly up and down laughter also. He was brilliant. I found out at work that he died. So Sad if he died without JESUS! 8:o( Quote All progress in the Spiritual Life is knowing and Loving GOD"there is non upon earth that I desire besides YOU" PS 73:25That perspective changes EVERYTHING-suffering and adversity are the means that makes us hungry for GOD. Disapointments will wean us away wordly occupations. Even sin(when repented of) becomes a mechanism to push us closer to HIM as we experience His Love and Forgiveness. carolaa
He's an intelligent comic. Yeah, he really made people think. I liked the one about the homeless and the golf courses. And the one about the Gulf War.
