Thomas Jefferson's Original Draft Of Declaration of Independence

One little-known thing about the original draft is that Jefferson's original draft included mention of the wrong of the slave-trade.

This portion was eventually deleted because there were states that would not have voted for the Declaration if it had included it. The delegates decided that it was more important at that point to be united in favor of independence than it was to deal with the issue of slavery.

John 3:16-17

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
