When I first saw the Palin family photo with the 16-year-old daughter on the right (which, if I understand correctly was taken about 6 months into the pregnancy in question), I thought "Yes, I think I can see a lady in this photo who is about 6 months pregnant...but I don't think it's Sarah..."

I have been following this with interest, mainly because I can't resist a news story which involves ob/gyn and childbirth.

(Disclaimer: I don't really care who wins the US Presidential race, and most of the time I don't really know the difference between Republican and Democrat, as I'm not a US citizen. I come from a nation that expects politicians to all be flawed and have dark secrets in their past until proven otherwise, but disapproves more of dishonesty and cover-up than of any actual misdemeanor that a politician could come up with.)

I didn't see anything relating to Palin in that link. What did I miss?

Don't mean to be argumentative but all I get when I hit that link the first time was...

Once in #dailykos...

You'll see a handful of people with @'s in front of their names, those are operators who administrate the channel, change the topic, kick out rude users, etc. If the channel gets large enough and there are too many side conversations (e.g. during the debates), the operators may set the channel mode to 'moderated', preventing anyone without an @ or a + in front of their name from speaking. In that case, we will 'voice' users who are registered daily kos members (give them a + in front of their name) and allow these users to talk.

That's about all I think there is to IRC, so hopefully you'll all join us and we can once again become an effective rapid response team for Kerry/Edwards.

Do again, what has this to do with Palin?

OK, this is weird. Now on the 3rd try of hitting that link I got something related to Palin. But not the first two times.

Well, Bravus, I hadn't wanted to be the first one to post that news here, but I've heard that ever since Palin was first announced. (There were several Comments by persons living in Alaska which were posted on the Internet articles.)

I think it's pretty crazy that in the "traditional" news articles today concerning the trip Palin is taking with McCain across America, it's noted that she has a lot of extra things to pack -- "including the breast pump." Then they talk about the baby being fed its bottle by another family member.

Well, I know from experience that when a working mother pumps breast milk to feed her baby, that milk must be refrigerated immediately! There was no mention of hastening the milk in to the fridge. IMO, the baby's getting formula!

Now, P.S. I think it's admirable if the Palins choose to adopt or care for their (Downs syndrome) grandchild, and call it their own child. But it's the LYING that tells me, Sarah Palin can't be trusted. [e.g., lying about the 16-year-old unmarried daughter's protracted absence from school being as a result of "mononucleosis."]

Drawing attention to evil surmisings that slander a teenage girl is "all that you can do?"

Does the Golden Rule no longer have meaning?

May God protect you and your children from other such "truth tellers."

This is politics unfortunately. If the conservative right, including the so called religious right had such information on a democratic candidate you better believe they would use it.

No. "This" is an Adventist forum, supposedly a Christian one. Whatever the "christian right" or the "christian left" might do is not at issue.

What do we, as Christians and Adventists, do? That is the issue. I would not want such ugly, unfounded rumors circulated about my daughters, and so I would not draw attention to such about others--no matter their political persuasion.

Should this turn out to be true, it's a family tragedy. Should it turn out to be false, it's a disgrace to have participated in it.

Even if the rumor is true, there is nothing wrong with what was allegedly done. Well, the teenage girl having premarital sex was wrong (if it happened) but the girl's parents adopting their grandchild was honorable and consistent with their pro-life beliefs.

Now this issue of "lying" is way off base. Many adoptive parents do not want to tell their children they are adopted until the child is older. Laws vary state to state but privacy laws protect the parents both adoptive and biological. If the rumor is true (and that is "if") we are hardly in a position to judge them for this personal decision.

Either way, if the child is biologically Palin's child or grandchild, what she did is honorable and consistent with her pro-life position. This kind of story is the type of swiftboat attack that I warned would be forthcoming. I expect more. The far left is going to hate this woman and do anything and everything to prevent her from breaking the glass ceiling.

Quite often there is not a dime's worth of difference between what is discusssed here and what is discussed on any other message board. In politics anything goes. The opposition will used any and every gossip item or innuendo to get whatever political advantage they can out of it.

Addressing the unfortunate blight upon the American landscape of public discourse, that is, such as the dailykos, moveon.org, huffingtonpost, etc. These mentioned are

typical of the most sordid of the those liberal sisters of major blogsites.

>>In politics anything goes. The opposition will used any and every gossip item or innuendo to get whatever political advantage they can out of it.<<

Patently untrue. Please provide a similar example having occurred in this campaign – whereby the Right has employed immediately involved minors – to either attack or gain an advantage over its opposition.

Whether the facts re the Palin family are true or untrue, it is a despicable exploitation of what should be recognized as personal information that directly affects and concerns, not so much a political figure – but a minor and a baby – moreover, a handicapped baby.

Only the sinister side of Natl Politics would seek to make political coinage of such ‘news for public consumption’.

You’ll notice that that sort of thing, seemingly, with all too much frequency – originates from the left; y’know, the educated, caring, thoughtful, progressive, nuanced, and polished left. One sometimes thinks, given its self-portraiture, that the left has proprietary claim upon

the concept of noblesse oblige.

If the story is true, why would Ms Palin feel she has to hide something? Was it the only way she could talk her daughter out of an abortion? If so her young dau. would want to avoid the publicity and Ms Palin is protecting her dau. from it. And why not? Mothers alway protect their children when they can.

Otherwise a pregnant h.s. student these days should not feel she has to hide anything but should feel free to proudly raise her child, if she wants to.

Sarah Palin's 17-year-old , unmarried daughter is five months pregnant, the campaign has announced. Hoping to quell internet rumors about about her youngest son, Palin released the news about her daughter Bristol earlier today.

A statement released by the campaign said that Bristol Palin will keep her baby and marry the child's father. Bristol Palin is five months pregnant, and the baby is due in late December.

"Our beautiful daughter Bristol came to us with news that as parents we knew would make her grow up faster than we had ever planned. We're proud of Bristol's decision to have her baby and even prouder to become grandparents," Sarah and Todd Palin said in the brief statement. -from The Huffington Post, Sept. 01, 2008

Now, what? Is Bristol the mother of both? None of our business, really!

What the world chooses to do is not the point. What those here calling themselves Christians and Adventists is.

If we Christians condone that behavior among ourselves, we have no witness for the world.

for a Christian to participate in such evil is a disgrace.

More evil surmising, based on zero evidence. This is a sad day at CA
