Sarah Palin Rumor

Recommended Posts

This isn't church. This is a pseudo christian adventist msg board, and hang out place for 'net junkies. No more, no less.

I prayed for twenty years but received no answer until I prayed with my legs.

Apparently that excuses anything.

Well, you said it: Psuedo Christian. My point exactly.

Since I had explicitly said that I was not taking a position on the issue, I have nothing to recant, but if this report is true (and there's no reason to disbelieve it) then clearly the earlier rumor is incorrect. Good to have it cleared up so fast.

Is that pseudo Christian? Pseudo Adventist? Or both? Either way that's a bit harsh for those who don't involve themselves in the muddy side of gossip. We have several very Christian members on this board and to say they are otherwise is, well, judgemental. Apparently none of us can get past that one.

Bravus is in the clear as I see it he was just keeping us informed and took no position on the story. The puzzle is unsolved - still. The timeline is very close. And what is involved is not surmising and speculation about a teenager, but a question about the truthfulness of her mother who could be sitting in the oval office soon. I don't suppose we will ever know for sure since no crime has been committed and there is no reason to have an investigation. Teen age girls become pregnant every day in this country and there is nothing vile about it. But we can't have our masters in D.C. lying to us.

No. "We" are characterizing a response as hypocritcal and repulsive.

Given your earlier post:

I assume you agree that:

"I am not taking a position, but I think it's interesting that: fill in vile speculation."

Is a justifiable position for a Christian.

I don't. I think it's Lame, lame, lame. Disgusting.

You wouldn't accept it if someone called attention to vile speculation about you or your children, therefore the Golden Rule demands that you not do it to anyone else.

Or does your Bible include an exception for those you disagree with? Mine doesn't.

"I was just keeping people informed" about evil surmising, assuming without evidence actions of people I am inclined to suspect.

You can't be serious.

Once again, I say, if people circulated vicious false accusations about your children, you wouldn't accept such a lame excuse.

"The timeline is very close."

Right. If Bristol gave birth to Trig [for which we have no evidence, only evil surmising] and got pregnant again the same day, it might kind of work. Sort of.

Ludicrous. Lame. Disgusting.

Quite often there is not a dime's worth of difference between what is discusssed here and what is discussed on any other message board. In politics anything goes.

What the world chooses to do is not the point. What those here calling themselves Christians and Adventists is.

If we Christians condone that behavior among ourselves, we have no witness for the world.

for a Christian to participate in such evil is a disgrace.

Does this include "burying hatchet"?

You have been asked 3-4 times to bury the hatchet between us and you go silent. Based upon the above principle from your mouth, you are without excuse and have nothing to say that is worth listening to....

And this is the point I made quite some time ago, albeit somewhat obliquely. When Christians, even like-minded Christians on things religious, start giving voice to their political views that are divergent, all semblance of Christianity goes on holiday. And what happens to me is that I find myself in strongly held fundamental political disagreement with those with whom I generally have a great deal in common on the religious front.

The negative consequences are twofold, at least for such a dilemma. That person is apt to lose credibility and respect including their religious ideas. And it greatly strains the relationship that would have otherwise been quite positive if the political rubbish hadn't been so freely tossed around.

Religion and politics don't mix very well. Politics are not cleansed by even a large dose of religion, but even a small infusion of politics in religion makes religion dirty.

Tom - and yet Shane and I, and olger and I, and a number of others with whom I disagree strongly on political matters, manage to have a very strong friendship, respect for one another as people and respect for one another's ideas and opinions. Lack of respect and civility in political debate is frequent but by no means inevitable.

Personally my own feelings about politics is that if I thought that it would cause division between us as Seventh-day Adventists, I wouldn't even talk about it. I love studying and discussing history and politics but I can also see why Ellen White said it can be harmful and a distraction from the gospel.

I agree. I don't think anyone is getting bent out of shape over things that are simply seasonal.

I think of all of our discussions as verbal excercise and it is a really jolly excercise. No hard feelings,

or, at least, there's no reason for hard feelings, ...just

If the story is true, why would Ms Palin feel she has to hide something?

Well, we now know it wasn't true but was far, left liberals practicing swiftboat politics. However even it it were true, when a parent decides to adopt a child of their teenage child it is a very private decision. I have known two families where this happened and it was kept a secret. One family told the child when the child was 14 years old. It was after they told the child that I learned about it. The other family was that of an AA sponsor I had. He and his wife adopted their child's baby and no one ever talked about it - ever. The baby was to never know that his "sister" was actually his mother.

Adoption issues are private and complex. We have absolutely no right to judge adoptive parents and what they choose to keep secret and what they choose to let be known. Regardless if they are in the public light or not.

Please note that I am posting this because I think it's interesting, not intending it as a smear or a political statement and particularly not saying that I believe it.

I think Bravus' opening statement is pretty clear. He wasn't saying he believed this report. In fact, as it turns out, this report reflects badly on the far, left liberal blogs. The story is no longer about Sarah Palin, but about the swiftboat attacks from the far left. I expect to see more of these types of attacks from both the far left and the far right.

May God protect you all from those who find slander about you and your children "interesting," and make certain it gets noticed.
