Ruth Diede, 86, James-town, died Saturday, Oct. 4, 2008, at Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Center, James-town.

Ruth Schroeder was born Dec. 15, 1921, north of Gackle, N.D., the daughter of Jacob and Fredericka (Spitzer) Schroeder. She attended the local rural school north of Gackle in Stutsman County, North Dakota. She grew up on the family farm. She married William Diede on March 20, 1944, at Napoleon, N.D. They lived on the Diede family farm near Streeter, N.D., where they farmed until 1980. They moved to Jamestown in 1990. After she retired she spent her winters in Arizona. In the summers of 1980-1991, she worked for a produce farm in Wapato, Wash. He died on March 20, 2008. She was a member of Streeter Seventh-day Adventist Church until 1991, when she became a member of Seventh-day Adventist Church, James-town. She held several offices in the church.

She is survived by four sons, Thomas (Nadeane), Cupertino, Calif., LeRoy (Diana), Grass Valley, Calif., Loren Lee (Dianna), Navajo Dam, N.M., and Amos Joel (Darlene), Buchanan, N.D.; two brothers, Jacob G., Fort Collins, Colo., and Benjamin, Aberdeen, S.D.; six grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.

Ruth Diede She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, two in infancy; five sisters, two in infancy; and a granddaughter.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday, Seventh-day Adventist Church, Jamestown, with the Rev. Darren Purdy officiating.

Prayer service: 5 p.m. Thursday, Haut Funeral Home, Jamestown.

Visitation: 1 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and one hour before the service at the church Friday.

Burial: Gackle City Cemetery, Gackle.
