Bravus! Bravus? He's not even close! Come on, Stan. My vote is for Nico. Her rate of posting is the fastest and most diverse of any of our's. Even so, it's still going to take a while. I'm thinking November 2007.

Edited portion: Nah. On second thought, I think it might be a lot sooner. My best guess is January 2006.

I know, I wanted to challange him, I can see him ordering Tim Hortons by the truckload, not sleeping and coming in 2 days ahead of my guess.

On a serious note there are some aborund 7,000 Robert used to be the top but not sure where he is now.

Of this I know! It surely won't be me! I'm out of that race!

Spam is sending the same thing everywhere.

Not sure if this was meant as humour or sarcasm. Often humour does not transfer well on forums. If it was sarcasm, then shame on you.

I appreciate so much the variety of posts that Amelia does, and the humour as well. It should beats a lot of other kind of posts.

Well Stan, Bravus maybe could use his formula to figure this out, but since there are so any variables it surely will not work. What we need here are statistics. But again, how do you measure motivation?

So Stan I need your help. I have probably left out someone very important. You will have to enlighten me if I have.

When I read about the contest, I did a search to find anyone who could be a contender. I came up with these names because each one has reached 4,000 already.

Amelia icon_salut.gif joined 7/30/2001 and for the past 1283 days has posted 7314 posts and should post an additional 2686 posts to reach 10,000 on April 16, 2006.

Nico icon_salut.gif joined 11/21/2003 and for the past 409 days has posted 4563 posts and should post an additional 5437 posts to reach 10.000 on May 1, 2006

Robert icon_salut.gif joined 7/14/2001 and for the past 1269 days has posted 7241 posts and should post an additional 2759 posts to reach 10,000 on May 1, 2006.

Gail icon_salut.gif joined 12/9/2002 and for the past 756 days has posted 4978 posts and should post an additional 5022 posts to reach 10.000 on Feb 14, 2007.

Shane icon_salut.gif joined 2/2/2002 and for the past 1096 days has posted 4304 posts and should post an additional 5696 posts to reach 10.000 on Jan 2, 2008

Naomi icon_salut.gif joined 7/15//2002 and for the past 902 days has posted 4228 posts and should post an additional 5772 posts to reach 10.000 on May 14, 2008

Neil icon_salut.gif joined 8/10/2000 and for the past 1607 days has posted 5180 posts and should post an additional 4820 posts to reach 10,000 on Feb 16, 2009.

Stan icon_salut.gif joined 3/1/2000 and for the past 1769 days has posted 4678 posts and should post an additional 5322 posts to reach 10.000 on Aug 11, 2010.

Fran tongue1.gif joined 3/17/2000 and for the past 1758 days has posted 518 posts and should post an additional 9482 posts to reach 10.000 in the year 2158.??? You will have to bury me with my laptop and an internet connection!

Now that I have counted days and years; these people went and skewed everything by MOTIVATION. Some of these dear folks have broken their averages in the past week!

Amelia went from an average of 5.7 posts per day to 19 posts per day. thumbsup.gif

Nico went from an average of 11.2 posts per day to 16.2 posts per day. thumbsup.gif

Robert is steady as he goes with only a slight difference.

Gail went and got a life and her average is way down.

Shane went from an average of 3.9 posts per day to 9 posts per day. thumbsup.gif

Naomi average is a bit down

Neil is steady as he goes with only a slight difference

Stan went from an average of 2.6 posts per day to 5.9 posts per day. thumbsup.gif

Fran has a life and will not be participating in this insanity! confused.gif

The ones to watch are Amelia and Nico. If Shane speeds up a bit more he could catch up. Robert could pick up his momentum and whiz right on out.

[:"blue"]Can they keep up the momentum? [/]

Heh, I'm a relative n00b here: and even on my other forum (the William Gibson Board) where I've been posting for a year, and am at least as posty as I am here, I'm still only coming up on 3000. Not even sure what my stats are here, but...

I only have 761 posts in the 5 months since September, so a rate of roughly 5 posts a day. At that rate I'd hit 10k about this time of year in 2010!

Bravus;

I did do the math on yours but you went over 2009. We do want this challenge to come to an end. Right?

Between you and me; I only listed Stan because he's the boss. Understand? And I also did it because he has escalated his action. He is boot scootin’ right up to the contenders!

I included my stats because I posted the stuff so I wanted everyone to know, I am hopelessly lost as to winning this challenge; therefore I have no conflict of interests.

Go catch them, Bravus. If you double what Amelia and Nico are doing, you could also win! It is all MOTIVATION. The one with the most stamina and staying power wins!

The quick way to get post numbers up is to have some of those word games David McQueen used to start - some of them went over 50 pages. That would confound all the calculations.

The William Gibson Board (I know, it may be tasteless to mention my other love!) actually has a thread specifically for 'post pumping' - where those who care about such things can post 10 or 20 posts of one line messages to increase their post count. I don't think we want to go that way here - apart from anything else, all that costs bandwidth and storage space. So, although it's being a bit of a spoilsport in the context of this context, I think I'll aim to 'pump' the quality rather than the quantity.

Yes, please get one of those word games going, David - now, preferrably. I need someone/everyone to make 124 more posts before midnight (by the way, whose clock are we using for the date of the 150,000 posts contest? PST, I hope . . .)

(I know, David is probably sound asleep at this hour)
