I don't believe so, I think it would make people very antagonistic towards those that said that.

Not that I agree with this billboard... but

How does one or an organization cut through the 'white noise' of everyday living to get their message out. How do you capture the attention of the masses?

More advertisements, radio, print, TV, video, are getting creative to the point of being obnoxious or pornographic. Even the humor becomes more crude. Look st recent beer commercials to see examples of stupid people and how the beer makers are making fun of their customers (I still am amazed at that).

This billboard is trying to gain the attention of the masses, but will alienate most in the process. I don't see that as an acceptable trade-off. We have a guy here on the island that stands on various street corners holding a sign that says "God Hates Fags". How does he expect a homosexual to come to the foot of the cross by responding to that message? His message distorts God's character and creates a deeper division in relationships of sinners and our Lord.

Shame on him.

This photo started making the rounds in 2005. The real Rev Briggs passed away in 2006. Most believe this to be photoshopped

That would be the program you would use to create if you are a designer. It is the elect program to use. There are others but they don't compare. Unless you are really gifted in the world of design. :)

I still don't get how Anti-God is Anti-American... :\

This is a reflection of the some of the religious Right political agendas. The history of the religious right is that they believe that America was settled by God's children to set up a democracy whereby the worshiping of God could flurious. What they dont realize is that most of America was settled by people to ESCAPE religious persecution. Sure, they origionally set up a community where thier religious beliefs abounded, but the next generation or soon thereafter set about to religiously persecute anyone who thought differently from the colonist.

Now, several generations hence, we still have people who can not tolerate different thought/actions as it threatens thier own. And now, we have seen a resurgence of bigoted people from the christian churches who feel threatened in thier way of belief. Hence, being anti-God IS being anti-American...and the reverse of this is also felt to be true...Being Anti-American is being anti-God...although not touted nearly as much...

Democracy is a device that ensures we shall be governed no better than we deserve.

It's the Left that encourages the putdown of Christians. Nowadays ... you can have any belief or no belief ... and you are honored and protected. But if you are a Christian ... you are the only group that has no protection and you are discriminated against. You are not allowed to express your faith.

That is Liberalism.

I could go to any college and speak on Manchurian Marxism or Hedonist Beastiality and draw a good crowd.

If I go to speak about Jesus the Christ, I am not welcome...

Just wait. We'll probably see a whopper of a backlash in 2012.

On every public campus there are classes on the history of the Christian faith and there are plenty of instances where Christian speakers have been invited to speak.

There is quite a difference between speaking ABOUT a topic and stating that your way is the only way and if you don't follow the way I believe in, my God will eventually kill you.

I believe that many Christian beliefs are harmful and since there are plenty of forums to hear what Christians believe, I don't believe there is a danger of the Christian message not getting out.

I have seen over and over in situations where there are invitations to share beliefs among differing world views, the Christians are the most obnoxious and the least tolerant. They often separate themselves, are defensive, angry, and aren't willing to listen to any other views. I have seen them disrupt by singing praise songs loudly over the other booths, seeing themselves as warriors for God against an intolerant world. The truth is that they are rude and no one can talk with them because they really don't want to talk with anyone else. Frankly they display blatant ignorance of the world around them, often addressing internal issues that have nothing to do with the world at large.

When Christians display tolerance, sensitivity to social concerns, and have intelligent solutions to bring, they are welcomed. Only these Christians aren't considered REAL Christians by other Christians. They are labelled as Liberals, backsliders, and nominal Christians. But these are often the Christians involved in their communities trying to follow Jesus' message to care for the poor. But since they don't support Capitalism, guns, national defense spending or Republicans they aren't really Christians.

The truth is our national defense and capitalism are blatantly anti-Christian if you take what Jesus teaches seriously. They are hardly turning the other cheek or selling all that one owns and giving to the poor.

So, thats several reasons why Christians are often excluded from secular campuses because they are tired of it being rammed down their throat. And many Christians voices are simply bigots and Christianity shows little sign of cleaning its own house.

True that most of us don't meet up with the ideal, ie: Jesus, when speaking about the Way. But one can always find reason to avoid the requests of Jesus without using the lack of others as our out.

"Then said he unto him, A certain man made a great supper, and bade many:

And sent his servant at supper time to say to them that were bidden, Come; for all things are now ready.

And they all with one consent began to make excuse. The first said unto him, I have bought a piece of ground, and I must needs go and see it: I pray thee have me excused.

And another said, I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to prove them: I pray thee have me excused.

And another said, I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come." Luke 14:16-20 KJV

It is a terrible tragedy but it isn't God that kills them.

"For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned."Matthew 12:37

KJV

The billboard doesn't seem to fit into__

My post wasn't about any requests of Jesus. First of all, I am unaware of any requests and second, this is really another example of the exclusive thinking that Christians bring to the table. You assume that everyone's connection with a spiritual path has to be about Jesus.

I don't follow this reasoning since your god sets up the rules, enforces them, chooses to destroy the earth, and punishes sinners by burning them alive. I would think that an all powerful forgiving god would have no reason to punish anyone in such a painful tortuous way. Since this god intervenes all the time breaking physical laws within stories in the Bible, it would seem that this god could come up with a far less tortuous way to kill sinners.

The evidence, to me, points to something made up by men since it appears obvious to me that no vastly intelligent omnipotent being would ever stoop to such childish solutions.
