But, what I am going to be looking closely at is what will be done with the pirates. If they are allowed to go free ... then I have an issue with Mr. Obama. And he will fail the test in my view. After all if one is careless enough to become a victim and cannot "discuss" rationally and end the problem the victim probably is responsible to a large degree. DB I was just echoing my support of how President Clinton handled similar situations. I think he hit an African aspirin factory with one of those smart bombs... but at least he tried. Just listened to comments made by Clinton. That ought to strike terror into into the heart of the pirates. Instead of this being an act of terrorism it "is a man made contingency" That has such a sanitized sound to it. But much more diplomatic than calling it was it is. This is a simple situation. We have one warship. Why do we need two? I think this is a little over-kill for a simple situation. I wouldn't be afraid to bet the captain that was/is willing to exchange his life for that of his men might have a little disgust for some that are sanitized. The men that have been held captive for some time might not appreciate sanitizing what they have gone thru. Implying maybe piracy is preferable to terrorism. In any event these men are ruthless thugs. There is nothing about their actions to indicate anything but men that have sunk to a level of an animal without conscience or empathy. What I said was words are often used to sanitize actions. That I would suspect that the captain and those 260 men held might have a different understanding of the word "piracy" than you. Piracy and terrorism may have the very same meaning to them. When you kidnap,terrorize,threaten lives, and hold captive that sounds like terrorism to many of us. No,I certainly do not inhabit the world you do or at least I try very hard not to. I have a great deal of contempt for cowardly thugs. Those that will put families thru what these thugs are doing. But more than that when I hear as I am sure will come in time what pushed these poor men into a life of piracy my contempt will shift to those that do that. Now when you indicate my contempt for fellow human beings if you are expanding beyond that you are again saying what you wished I had said. I hope everyone comes out alive in this. I hope someone has the backbone in our country to try these men and remove them from innocent human beings. If these pirates end up dead they have only themselves and their evil actions to thank. I do have more of a comfort level where words mean what they say. Obama's scrubbing the word terrorism,war on terror from the White House vocabulary may comfort some,especially on the left. The ships could travel in groups of 3-4. Each country could provide 1-2 warships to escort the groups of cargo ships through the area.
