Govenor of Texas talks of Secession from the Union

Recommended Posts

But Perry is encuraging it, according to most of the reports....and as for the legality of secession, I don't think that is true...Remember the Civil War? However, Texas has the right to split into 5 other states, which means 10 red(neck) senators....Which could cause also problems in the senate currently.....

Democracy is a device that ensures we shall be governed no better than we deserve.

What kinda problem would that be?

May we be one so that the world may be won.

But Perry is encuraging it,

Well, it's true he could be doing more to back away from the issue. I'm thinking maybe he's trying to hold on to those fringe voters.

Governor Perry is not encouraging secession. If "most reports" are saying that, it only goes to show the kind of bias media people are listening to or viewing. One need only read the actual quote from Perry's own lips to see he is saying we have a great union. That is not encouraging succession.

As far as the Civil War goes, Texas' problem there is that they were not alone. Texas was not trying to secede as a sovereign nation itself. It was trying to secede as part of another nation made up of various other states. It does not have the right to do that.
