Arab Christians

This is an area that has not been discussed much regarding the Middle East. There is an interesting article in the latest issue (June 2009) of National Geographic about the Arab Christians, with the idea that this group of people needs to be utilized more to help the Western world and the Muslim world understand each other better. These Christians have been living alongside the Muslims for centuries, through wars and peace, and could no doubt share many valuable insights with both sides.

I worked for a Lebanese family that were Catholics. They told me there are a lot of Catholic Arabs in Lebanon.

We have a large Lebanese population in Sydney and many are Catholic. Many belong to the Maronite branch of Catholicism, where I think the priests can be married although the bishops are not.

My (work) partner is of that persuasion, I went to a midnight Christmas mass with him

once. Not something I would make a habit of , but I enjoyed that one time.
