William Jefferson of Louisiana was convicted Wednesday on 11 of the 16 corruption charges against him in a case that included the discovery of $90,000 in his freezer... Jefferson, a 62-year-old Democrat, was indicted by a federal grand jury on June 4, 2007, about two years after federal agents said they found the cash in his freezer. Authorities said the cash was part of a payment in marked bills from an FBI informant in a transaction captured on video. Jefferson had pleaded not guilty. He faces a maximum possible sentence of 150 years in prison, with sentencing tentatively set for October 30... Descriptions from the heavily redacted affidavit and pictures of the open freezer show bills wrapped in foil and tucked into frozen food containers, including a box for pie crusts and another for veggie burgers. That's why I said in another post that capitalism, socialism etc. all have there pros and cons. The problem is not capitalism, its greed. I agree with you about Walmart, when they come in all the small businesses go out of business, but you have the same thing with Home Depot and Lowe's, they put all the little guys out of business. We used to have this place called Paul's true hardware, as soon as Lowe's came in they went out of business. They now do rentals and changed there name to Paul's Rental. Which is the one that closed a few businesses? Why is wal-mart the culprit and greedy? Our local hardware in a our small(10,000) town has not only survived but expanded.
