Woody
The reason we are in Iraq is because Saddam went into Kuwait. If he had not gone into Kuwait .... we would not be in Iraq. Attacking your neighbor is not a good idea. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology. Ted Oplinger
The reason we are in Iraq today is because Bush 41 wasn't a Reagan, who would have told the rest of the world to go pound sand and taken down Hussein back in '91 with Desert Storm, had Reagan been elected to a third term (I know - Constitutionally prohibited, but said for the sake of example). Bush 41 didn't finish the job. That necessitated the return to Iraq by Bush 43 - and he bungled the job for 18 months until he (finally) put the right people in, and won the war. The Iraqi government stands on its feet now. We are now running training for Iraqi security, and making certain the surrounding Arabs don't wipe out what American soldiers freed with their blood. Make no mistake about it, Red - I agree with why we were (and are) there. My argument is with the prosecution of that action - which turned it into "Bush's little excursion" during a time of needed seriousness against terror threats. Quote "As iron sharpens iron, so also does one man sharpen another" - Proverbs 27:17 "The offense of the cross is that the cross is a confession of human frailty and sin and of inability to do any good thing. To take the cross of Christ means to depend solely on Him for everything, and this is the abasement of all human pride. Men love to fancy themselves independent. But let the cross be preached, let it be made known that in man dwells no good thing and that all must be received as a gift, and straightway someone is offended." Ellet J. Waggoner, The Glad Tidings "Courage is being scared to death - and saddling up anyway" - John Wayne "The person who pays an ounce of principle for a pound of popularity gets badly cheated" - Ronald Reagan
